Jean Delance Transfers To Florida (From TX)

Wow, that was quick. It always seems wierd when these recruits that had Michigan as a finalist never seem to end up here after transferring.... Maybe that's a good thing, who knows...

He wasn't on the two deep at Texas, had been relegated to the practice squad, and had qualms with the coaching change. I doubt the staff was as interested in him as the MgoBoard.

If the previous DeLance thread can be believed, this reeks of meddlesome grandmothers!

Yeah, Ty Isaac is the only recent player that comes to mind.

It usually is a good thing, bullets dodged generally. Rarely do these guys end up lighting it up.
August 21st, 2017 at 4:15 PM ^
This guy can do things as fast as he wants.

He must've heard that Nolan Ulizio is the second coming of Jake Long and decided he didn't want anything to do with that competition.

Shut The Front Door and wash your mouth out as Somewittyname will be hunting you down after that comment.

not as good as Texas or Michigan, but warm weather, SEC, not a bad town from what I've heard... makes sense. Always like to add depth to the OL, but oh well. Best of luck to the guy!

That is outstanding!

Dude come on, It's never cool to make fun of a guys kid.

UM coaches reached out to him, but quickly soured. Their delance didn't last very long.

And I don't want anyone to do any in-depth research, but who is the best non grad transfer in recent years? Just wondering if someone comes to mind. Other than guys who got in trouble and were forced to transfer. It just seems like kids who are looking for something, never seem to find it.

For whatever reason, we don't seem to transfer in a lot of players... I'm sure I am forgetting someone, but I can only think of two that were eye-catching in recent years: John O'Korn, and Ty Isaac. Isaac was a pretty big name.
As a side note, I am still unreasonably high on Ty Isaac, and would love to see him get more touches. The blend of power and shiftiness he brings to the table is pretty special. I have to think ball security must be the #1 reason he hasn't gotten more play.

I'm with you on Isaac. He has the speed, size and hands to be a great back. Not sure why it hasn't all come together. I saw him at the spring practice last year at IMG and thought he looked really good. I'll be rooting hard for the guy this year.

I'm talking all of college football.

Cam Newton?
August 21st, 2017 at 8:34 PM ^
Well Cam did get in trouble, but not sure if he was forced to transfer.

Just off the top of my head, Baker Mayfield has been pretty successful. He was a heisman finalist the last two years and led OK to the playoff.
Although I think that transfer had more to do with Texas Tech messing around with his scholarship.
August 21st, 2017 at 5:55 PM ^
His situation was weird though. Didn't he walkon and want to stay at Texas tech, but they didn't have a scholarship available the next year, or something crazy like that.
August 21st, 2017 at 4:35 PM ^
For the Big Ten, maybe Jordan Howard. There must be more. There also those like Cam Newton who made a stop in between.
August 21st, 2017 at 5:25 PM ^
Yeah Cam got kicked out of Florida though, wasn't a voluntary transfer. Otherwise he's easily number 1, probably followed by Randy Moss at number 2.
August 21st, 2017 at 5:46 PM ^
Got in trouble at FSU, so he had to transfer also. Cam got in trouble, went to a JC before Auburn.
August 21st, 2017 at 6:11 PM ^
UAB shut down their program.
We're going back quite awhile but Justin Fargas and Ryan Mallett were the most successful Michigan related transfers I can think of. Their moves were voluntary too.
August 21st, 2017 at 7:08 PM ^
Russell Wilson did well at Wisconsin.
August 21st, 2017 at 9:54 PM ^
Wilson as a grad transfer from NC State if I remember correctly
August 21st, 2017 at 6:16 PM ^
I think Jarrett Stidham at Auburn is the next non-grad transfer to be a big success. He is their starter this year and I really liked him in high school and also in the games he played at Baylor.

Thomas Rawls?
