2017-18 Michigan Athletics season begins tomorrow night

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

It's a long summer wait but we're back.

The 2017-18 Michigan Athletics season officially kicks off tomorrow when Michigan Women's Soccer takes on Washington (7-12-1 in 2016).

Just before the start of last season, the Wolverines lost 3 key players. Sura Yekka redshirted to go train with the Canadian U20 team, Taylor Timko suffered a season-ending injury and Kelly Sweeney re-injured her ACL and forced her retirement.

Michigan returns 71% of its goal scoring from last season including leading scorer junior Reilly Martin as well as both goalkeepers who started games last season in Sarah Jackson and Megan Hinz.

Michigan has split both exhibitions in 2017. Dropped a close one against #1 ranked West Virginia back on August 7th, 2-1. Destroyed WMU via FOUR Taylor Timko goals in her first appearance on the pitch in two years, to win 5-0.

2017 should be an exciting season where the Wolverines make progress towards that first B1G Regular Season Championship in the 24 year history of the program.

I was afraid that this post was some kind of disguise for a fantasy UM sports league or some such bullshit.  Great to see some real content.

I like their field. We watched them play last year after the Illinois homecoming football game. Cool chunk of real estate. Close to campus but not in the way. Near Briarwood
