It is very cruel to post a thread about a once-in-a-generation player that Michigan never even offered (unless you're just trying to troll Maizen)
All that said, he is noteworthy because he's a 2018 recruit who is trying to reclassify to 2017. Top recruits are sometimes held back a year, shuffle high schools, etc. If the NCAA allows him to magically become a year younger, this could send recruiting shenanigans into over-drive.

He's been to 3 "high schools" and also home schooled between California and Arizona. The NCAA ruled his sophomore year was a sham (why the NCAA is doing this investigating idk). This would be reversing it.
He just finished his junior year of high school. The NCAA said his sophomore year was fake. And now he can magically go to Duke? It makes no sense. This says more about HS than the NCAA I guess.
One source stated that when members of the NCAA's Eligibility Center interviewed Starshine Academy administrators and faculty, they were told that many players on Hillcrest's high school and post-grad basketball teams had been seen on campus as little as a single occurrence in the first 49 days of school. "Most of the teachers could not identify any of the basketball players," said one source, on condition of anonymity. Apart from its partnership with Hillcrest, Starshine Academy has struggled to meet the state of Arizona's standards for alternative schools, receiving a "D" grade for the 2013-14 school year, and graduating 31% of its students within four years of their 9th grade enrollment- well below the state's average of 75%.

can't find many reputable sites that are willing to say he's clearly ahead of Porter, Ayton, Bamba, Doncic and Robert Williams. In the mix for #1, sure.

The only person that anyone is comparing to him in the 2017 class is Porter. And the majority are saying Bagley is better.
Most are saying Bagley is the best prospect since Durant. And having watching him for years in person and most of these other players, they aren't too far off. The kid is really really good.

A once-in-a-generation talent is someone like Lebron, Durant, and now Steph Curry.
And Bagley isn't even the best player in HS. I think RJ Barrett is better.

Lebron is a once in a generation point forward. Lebron is the Magic Johnson of this generation.
Kevin Durant is a once in a generation scoring forward. I can't even think of an analog for Durant.
Steph Curry is a once in a generation shooting/combo guard. Curry is the Pistol Pete of this generation.

meaning that you won't see that type of player ever again until decades later. LBJ is a 6'8" point forward. Has rare size/athleticism combo that it cannot be matched by anyone. KD is 7' SG/SF/PF/C which is a rarity by itself. He can shoot with ruthless efficiency, handle like a guard, moves like a guard and defend. Tell me how many 7' can do it like KD? None.
I wouldn't consider Steph a once a generation player but he's a rare player who can handle the ball and shoot it from anywhere with ease. His quick release especially off the dribble is unmatched by anyone in the league.

That doesn't compute.
It seems to me you're fixating on measurables. Curry's shooting ability alone makes him a once-in-a-generation talent at his position. Combine that with his deft ball-handling and he's a game-breaking force.

Funny, isn't it, how Duke continues to reel in the 1-and-done types? At least a subset of those are guys who also considered Kentucky, Kansas, and -- generally -- $.
I can understand how a model citizen might want to play for Coach K. He didn't get to his level by being a bad coach.
Still, if you're just stopping by for a season or two and you have schools like Kentucky and Kansas (and $) in your list, why would you choose Duke?
Yes, I'm implying that Duke isn't completely clean.

for being dirty and not true to amatuerism while ignoring blue blood programs for doing the same thing. The only difference is Coach Cal are open to letting kids get to the pros and do whatever it takes to get them there.

Cal has back channel ways of signing these kids to big money deals before they even step foot in Lexington. It has a little to do with NIke, a lot to do with World Wide Wes and a lot to do with the NCAA never actually finally stomping this guy out. He has ruined college basketball.

If a kid is good enough to go pro straight off in basketball, they shouldn't be forced to go to college for a year, which everyone knows is a joke.
My proposed change:
- - If you're good enough to go pro from HS you can.
- - If you do go to college, it's the same as football, with a minimum 3 years out of HS. This would end the stupid ass one-and-dones.

I just think 11 PM EDT ends up being a very offbeat time to make such an announcement (even though it is only 8 PM EDT in Arizona), although undoubtedly he had a reason to do it - it isn't that late for him. It's just that most of these tend to be in the middle of the day or early afternoon - even here in the Eastern Time Zone - with a smattering of dinnertime announcements. This is the first one that I can recall that ended up being this late here.
