OT: New Lions Uniforms in Action
I wasn't sure about the new uniforms when they were released, and wanted to reserve judgement until they were actually on the field.
I ended up liking them, but I was struck by just how different they looked in action (though the weirdness of the sunlight coming through at Lucas Oil may have been a factor too).
What'd you all think?

To have a picture of the new uniforms, compared to a picture of the old ones.

I really like this EXCEPT for this as you stated (and the WCF on the other sleeve).
I also think the grey/silver outline around the numbers should be a liiiiittle darker - it was tough to see sometimes. I never liked the black, but I see why they did it...they need a better contrast of jersey to number. Look at big sexy on the right side of your screen right now. That #73 and even the jumpman logo, just POP!

Well, if you're gonna lose, at least look good doing it!?

Carolina Panthers?

Without the black trim, they look less like the Panthers now than they did before.

Eh, not terrible. Initial reaction is that it's an improvment over the disgusting most recent ones with black facemasks and number outlines. The one's from the 90's will always be the best, probably because that's what they wore when I was a kid, and like nearly all grade-school level boys growing up in Michigan in the 90's, I was a HUGE Barry Sanders fan. So I'm probably biased.

Maybe you're biased. Or maybe they're the best.

the new one is blah, at best, and no thank you for the carolina blue. give me honolulu blue like it's supposed to be.

Huh, I hadn't seen the blue pants on the road instead of silver. Gives some nice contrast.

They could really troll UM and wear maize pants....

I forgot about those away jerseys. The blue pants are a great idea and, as it has been said, they give a great contrast to the white tops. I hope they keep this up in the future. I've never liked the away jerseys they've used in the past.

I'm indifferent about the honolulu blue unis. I want to see the all gray ones in action though. Those looked the most interesting when the pictures first came out

That said, the removal of black (which is not one of the team colors) from the uniform is a step in the right direction.

is to change WCF to WTF. That would capture the past six decades much more accurately.

a blue facemask, white outlining the numbers and the elimination of "Lions" on the sleeve -- so tacky.

the "sweat box" panelling.

Why have the Lions been so bad for so long? Did their owners inherit the team and not really care about winning that much?
August 14th, 2017 at 11:30 PM ^
William Clay Ford bought the team in the 1960s and owned it til he died in 2014; his wife Martha owns it now.
One of his head coaches once asked, "What's it take to get fired around here?" That was WCF in a nutshell right there: I think he hated firing people more than he hated losing, and always let incompetent but nice people hang around for years longer than they should've.
Martha, on the other hand, is the owner I wish we'd had for the last five decades.
August 15th, 2017 at 12:43 PM ^
They'd be great. They've been willing to spend (Russ Thomas, notwithstanding). They don't interfere in football decisions, or at least, not regularly. The problem lies in their inability to hire the right people and then their unwillingness to fire them once they've revealed themselves to be the wrong people. Witness Russ Thomas, Darryl Rogers, Wayne Fontes and Matt Millen.
I don't know where WCF's strange brand of loyalty was borne out of, whether it was a personality thing or what. But it did keep the franchise from ever ascending.
