The legal process seemed to be satisfied that justice was served.
Just curious what consequences would assuage your personal level of outrage?

How about a real apology to the victim? You know... by actually looking at her?
Perry stood facing the judge during victim statement. Later apologized to the victim while looking at the judge.

Oh man, I missed that part. Let's definitely kick him off the team now.

You're entitled to that opinion, but that hasn't been consistent with how discipline had been administered historically, here or elsewhere. Graham Glasgow, Darryl Stonum, and Frank Clark were allowed to participate while on probation off the top of my head.
At any rate, the fact he didn't look the victim in the eye really had zero bearing on what consequences he should face.
August 11th, 2017 at 11:39 PM ^
and had to look these up. Stonum was suspended for the 2011 season and subsequently violated his probation and served a short jail sentence, after which he was kicked off the team.
Clark was kicked off the team November 2014 but before that, did play while on probation.
Glasgow also played while on probation for DUI.
So,"off the top of your head" is pretty good.
James Whitley, a co-captain, was kicked off the team at the end of the 2000 season (missed the bowl game) but I can't recall if he had any prior offenses.

You could organize letter writing campaigns, donation withholding, protests, boycotts, ask for a meeting with Warde and Jim and bring a bunch of victims of similar things to speak to them about this and the messages it sends.

On one hand, he was convicted of a felony and a misdemeanor. On the other hand, the sexual component of the case was "he said, she said" and the statement at his sentencing sounded like it was written by an attorney with a civil suit in mind. Also, there was no accusation of penetration, ala the Sparty players. Furthermore, he has already been punished by the courts and by the school.
I am just going to trust that Harbaugh and Manuel are smart enough to make the right decision. In Harbaugh we trust and welcome back to Perry.

"Perry, 19, is accused of grabbing a female Michigan State student by the groin and buttocks during an argument outside Lou & Harry's bar just after midnight on Oct. 15, 2016"
As much attention this has had on this board at least most of you have read this BUTT keep pretending all he did was grab her butt when he also actually TRUMPED her! Just like The Prezald said, when you're a celebrity you can grab women by the pussy and get away with it!
You can use the judge's statement as a fig leave all you want, she said she didn't think it was sexual in intent, just for intimidation, just an assault, but when you assault someone by grabbing their sex organ with intent to intimidate, or show that you "own' her, which is the way he did it according to the victim, isn't that right in the standard definition of a sexual assault of some degree? Haven't they always said rape and other sex crimes are about power and are crimes of violence not sex? Isn't that what happened? Don't they still prosecute sex crimes as sex crimes anyway? Jesus, if you fucking pee in the bushes they convict you of a sex offense and put you on the registry!!!!

My biggest problem is that I don't feel there should be a range of sexual assault. This is root of the problem. Guys being allowed to get away with crap like this because it's "on the very mildest end of the spectrum". Sure, it's not rape but it's still completely out of line. Since this first started and the police report came out, I've seen people all over talking about how he "just" grabbed her ass and that everybody does stupid things like that when they're drunk. As a woman, the fact that anybody considers that a justifiable statement offends greatly offends me. When are people going to get it? THIS is the problem. We're telling guys that grabbing a girl's genitals unprompted and uninvited is no big deal. Not to mention what that says to girls. Seriously, as a female, what am I supposed to think about that?
I don't know. I really don't like this. But like I said, it's done now and the matter's closed for the coaches and the courts.

There should still be a spectrum of punishment severity since there is a VERY wide spectrum of actions that can be considered as sexual assualt.
Also, sexual assault is not exclusively male-on-female.
August 12th, 2017 at 5:41 PM ^
accompanying climax should be punished more severely than slapping someone on the bum?
I disagree.

The punishments should absolutely differ drastically. I'm talking about the spectrum in terms of societal acceptability.

I do hope he's kept on a short leash. Kid showed horrible judgement (as I'm sure we all have), but he's also under a microscope considering the position he's in, and it's going to be even worse now.
I fully expect the coaching staff to make him aware of how high the expectations are for him to continue to be allowed to be involved with the team.
And I hope he has no further issues of any nature and keeps his nose clean.
