Everyone Murders

I like watching the kids get excited, etc.  That's all good.

But what I really like is watching the parents in the stands.  They range from nice folks to utterly ridiculous assholes.  Last night they kept showing this woman holding a sign up during pitches (this was CA v. HI IIRC) who was way too invested.  Her sign was blocking the view of the folks behind her, and we were treated to:

  • Seeing the woman behind her ask nicely for her to lower the sign.
  • Sign Woman snarling at woman behind.
  • Sign Woman's husband gently suggesting she lower the sign.
  • Sign Woman grudgingly slightly lowering the sign, but telling him "screw blocked woman"
  • Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

So while I hate parents like her (in a "I hate sour cream on nachos" sense - not real hate), I love scenes like that.  I'm still waiting to see if someone will go full "Randy Marsh" at one of these games.

If anyone is interested, the older age bracket (13-14) is having their World Series in Taylor. The games start Sunday and go all week

I love reading posts like this. Like the "west coast" is the SEC of LL baseball or something. The best part is the condescending lol at the end. I have neither the time or the inclination to look it up, but I'll bet a west coast team has not won the LL World Series even 50% of the time over the last 10? 20? Years. Do they even have 50% of the US wins? Your comment was great and made this discussion a whole lot better (faster?) lol.

My son is a low AAA travel ball player in GA.  He's 11 and when I told him these boys were 12 he said they weren't very good. Especially they way they swing,  My guess is that he would be one of the better players on either team, but there are likely 6 teams in North GA area that he wouldn't make.  That said, we are in Dizzy Dean country and the rules to put a team together are totally different than LL.

From my memory, a couple of teams from NJ and one from GA won the LLWS recently.  Not too sure about the CA schools.

Long time listener...First time caller here. Wow! You are such a hater MGoGrendel! Good luck with that way of thinking. Not very good huh!? I can tell you from watching them play first hand that those 12 year olds from Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores LL are in fact very good at baseball. That team has 4-5 kids that can hit 70 on the gun from 46' (mid-90s in the MLB equalivent). They scored 72 runs in their state tourney, including 18 dingers to boot. They are a true All-Star team of kids that play on different teams during their regular seasons. Not a team that is built and play together all the time.
