RVVSIAP: Raekwon McMillan out for 2017 with ACL Tear
Title pretty much says it all. Not an OSU fan, of course, but it's just gotta be devastating to work that hard for that many years to get a few weeks away from you dream - to play in the NFL - only to get it snatched away in a glorified scrimmage.

Oof, that's terrible. Hope he heals up.

FauxMo: You're aware that he didn't play for Michigan, right?
I don't understand the point of this post. Other than "thoughts and prayers" (already covered), what is there to discuss? Sorry.

I don't know, man. It's Friday and I've been sitting in front of a computer for about 50-55 hours this week. This gives me something to distract my mind for a few minutes here and there. Plus, a former OSU player blowing out an ACL cannot possibly be less relevant to us than 95% of the shit that's been posted here the last month, right?

Conceded. :)

I mean since he already did, there's no harm in "joking" about how he was a year late.
August 11th, 2017 at 5:53 PM ^
Well.....I can't argue with that.

how common ACL tears are, and how much money is invested in pro players, why aren't these guys practicing/playing with knee braces on?
ACL tears are caused by high torque unnatural twisting of the knee, right? Shouldn't all of these guys be wearing braces that would prevent that twisting?
Any orthopaedic MDs on the board to weigh in?

to go in with me on a start-up to develop a knee brace that will actually reduce the unnatural twisting that produces ACL tears?
Joking aside, there are knee braces already on the market that claim to help prevent ACL tears, right?
Isn't it just a matter of making sure the brace is sufficiently and robustly taped into place so it won't move when that twisting torsion thing happens?

Offensive linemen already do, in college almost all of them do. But they don't have to move laterally very much. Any position that requires a quick cut and change of direction means you have to twist your knee a little.

convinced that it would not be very hard to design a knee brace that would allow a certain small degree of natural knee twisting, but would prevent the sort of unnatural twisting that produces ACL tears.
Linemen often wear braces, but mostly to prevent hyperextension and the commong sideways impacts that they are constantly exposed to.
But has to be possible to design a brace that limits the twisting torque that tears ACLs.

be to design a brace that allows for a small natural amont of twist, but then has limiters to prevent twisting beyind that point. The existing knee braces don't have this feature (AFAIK).

Barry Sanders was born with no ACL's. He tore plenty of other people's though.

An ACL tear (skipped class to play ball at CCRB) is the most pain I've ever experienced. Although a close second was the physical therapist who decided to break through the scar tissue manually (the guy next to me got to go to the hospital and be put under to do the same thing).
Hope he makes a full recovery. I still hate osu.
GO BLUE!!

Always hate to hear of these injuries, especially stars who have a payday coming. Hope he's back out there next year when we stomp them at the 'shoe.

While I agree with the sentiment, he'll be watching us dash his alma mater's playoff dreams (hopefully) as a spectator, although I am sure they'll give him ringside seats to the affair regardless.

If this absolutely HAD to happen, it would have been better for all concerned to have happened last year in mid-November.
