Very cool article about coach Rod and the Mealer family
I dont usually read that other paper but i went there today and they had a really good article about coach Rod supporting the Mealer family. It talks about how Elliot wasnt even a player recruited by coach Rod but he went and visited him and Brock in the hospital after the accident. It also talks about Brock leading the team to the field for the first game. Everyone needs to read that to understand the true family values ( Boren included)
Here is the link for the people that want to read it:

Let's see if this will make sportscenter tonight...
April 15th, 2010 at 10:12 AM ^
when Brock leads Michigan onto the field that will be on Sportscenter, College Football Live, and any other station / show that wants a good story.
on Bob Ley's Outside the Lines.
It was actually on E:60. It's a good 15 minutes, so make sure you can invest the time before you start watching.

I'd imagine they'll do an update following the UConn game.

They have more important stuff to cover (Tim Tebow)

and how he was a steal in the draft when he gets drafted in the 6th round

THE steal OF the draft in the 6th round.
April 15th, 2010 at 10:16 AM ^
that Tebow declined his invitation to the NFL Draft. Kind of reassuring that he's not a media hore and trying to squeeze every bit of media exposure out of his college career.

Normally, I do not dwell on spelling or grammar in posts, especially on someone who has such a fantastic avatar, but this is an important matter: "Whore" is spelled with a "w". That is all. Carry on.

originally wrote "media hog" but did not like that and changed it to "media (w)hore" just forgot to add the "w". + 1 Nice catch.

Equally likely that he doesn't want to sit there on camera while he falls lower and lower waiting to be picked, ala Brady Quinn a few years ago.
Wise move either way.

Rodriquez and Michigan has helped Brock but it sure is nice to see after all the other crap that has been printed over the past few years.

i stand by my name... one tickle isn't worth years of abuse. that being said, wouldn't it be great if an anti-freep website were to develop. not one that has negative freep articles, but one that showcases all the truly good and benevolent things that UM Football players and coaches do. a positive news website dedicated to all the good that comes from our team. good people deserve much more public recognition....

ESPN did a pretty good piece on this as well.

is always a tearjerker. It makes me cry in so many places, including seeing the Mealer family in Buckeye gear. It's just so wrong!
I'm all for visiting freep's site for this article. Maybe they'll realize they can catch more bees knees with honey than with vinegar.

While most everyone (myself included) is avoiding the freep for obvious reasons, we should all be clicking this link. The more they get clicks for positive articles re: UM football, the more likely they are to publish them.
But, more importantly, go Brock and the Mealer family

Did the Freep publish this by mistake, or are people on vacation?

I can't wait to see Brock Mealer lead the team out of the tunnel next September 4th.
The place will absolutely go nuts.

Though Ezeh-E is right, more clicks for POSITIVE stories is probably a good idea, if there are those that want to hold true to their ban, I posted some quotes with the link in the previous Brock Mealer thread-
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/brock-mealer
It's not the whole article, but it's some highlights. I didn't want to start a new thread for a Freep article, but in case there's no info, I thought it might be worthwhile. I knew of the previous thread from a few days ago (as well as the Tim update), but my search didn't come up with this thread. So rather than cram the board by posting it all again, the link above.

Rosenberg and Snyder were down in Morgantown leading a seminar for the staff at the Dominion Post and other WV newspapers on how to properly create a media jihad.
April 15th, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
That was a devestating story that still touches me when I hear about it and that would be true regardless of the football program affected.
I haven't read the freep in 6 months, but i'm glad I clicked on the article. However, I was dumbfounded at some of the comments by readers...disturbing at best.
April 15th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
Rosenberg has a front page article on SI.com today about too much information regarding sports stars.
Evidently that doesn't extend to sports coaches, eh?

Just a personal note. I was at the scrimmage on Saturday, the first day the team saw Brock get out of his chair. The team was gathered at about the 50 when Brock wheeled to the goal line. The team and the whole crowd cheered when Brock stood and started walking. It soon became apparent, however, that Brock wasn't going to make the 50. (I was told he'd been practicing inside with Coach Barwis, and was a bit tired.) The team seemed to realize this, too, and although I didn't hear anyone say anything, for every step Brock, the team took a step closer to him. They met at about the 30. Thank goodness I was wearing sunglasses - I still get a bit choked up thinking about it.
But, but, I thought all our players were hardened criminal dreadlock orphans, and coach Rod punched pregnant women in the stomach, thus creating the state of Ohio. Have I been misled? Lies I say!
Seriously though, it's such a heartbreaking story. I can't wait to see Brock lead the way.
I've heard that links that begin with http://freep.com are viruses.
Me thinks there's going to be a lot of sweaty noses in the Big House when Brock leads the team out of the tunnel on opening day.
a great story but it's still a lousy Snyder article made of 2 sentence paragraphs and mostly qoutes.
I wonder if the freep "ban" going on around here has actually done something and now they need the clicks so the editor told Mr. Snyder to write a feel-good story to help bring back the disgruntled Michigan fans.
This positive story in the Freep certainly has to be one of the signs of the apocalypse. The End of Days is near. Get your affairs in order and say goodbye to your loved ones.
Don't fall for this Mark Snyder trick.
They are getting ready to run a massive smear campaign in the next few months, and need to lure Michigan fans for it to be effective.
If Snyder actually cared a single bit about the RR-Mealer story, he would have written something months ago.
Continue to avoid this despicable "newspaper" like the plague.
