Thoughts on Nike/Jordan Michigan deal after 1 year?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The midnight mayhem that was the Nike/Jordan Launch party that took over the city was a year ago at midnight of August 1.

It's been a year with Nike. What are your thoughts on the gear and the deal?

Mine:

Gear prices have shot up but so have the quality. The uniforms are outstanding except 2/3 Hockey jerseys.

I like that it is relatively unique, as in we were the first Jordan football team.

But I wouldn't really care if we were outfitted with MTA Pro apparel (Meijer Thrifty Acres) if we won a national title.

Consigned.

With Adidas, I could buy anything that I considered "my size" online without concern and it'd be comfortable and a relatively decent price.

Now I'm stuck with the Champion knock off crap from Wal-Mart because Nike wants too much bloody money for clothes designed to make us fat people hate themselves.

My sweatshirt and the Jordan shoes. Prices are crazy, but whatever. Most of all i just like that it is seen as something differentiating for the kids that ultimately may impact performance on the field

That's what the kids like so it's good.

I've bought a zipper sweatshirt, a replica football jersey for my toddler, and a replica away jersey for me. The white zipper of my sweatshirt has mysteriously turned pink but I can't blame Nike for that. The replica jerseys are okay though I haven't washed mine yet because I bought it after the season.

I still don't think they have the maize quite right on the football unis. Adidas actually seemed to nail it their final year and Harbaugh's first. More amber and less highlighter, me prefers.

Man...that's nitpicking...but you asked. (Also 95% satisfied.)

I feel like you haven't bought jerseys from both. I have a few Adidas hats that I prefer more than my Nike ones, but my pre-adidas visor is the one I'd grab from my house if it were burning to the ground.

Plus, the Adidas highlighter yellow was just bad. That alone was worth the change.

What's old seems new again.  But what do I do with my Adidas gear?  Wait for the next Adidas contract?  I still have an old pre-Adidas Nike jersey.

Being a bigger guy, they had absolutely nothing in the 3XL/4XL category last year, hopefully they will have a better selection this year.  Adidas always took care of us big boys!

They ruin too many decent designs with a gigantic, weirdly-placed Jumpman. Not that I would even think about paying those prices. Still happy with my Nike gear from the first time around.

Need more (some) retro Jordan shoes available to the public.  The training shoes aren't good enough.  I love all the drifit shirt choices, they are well worth the high price tag IMO. They last way longer.

The main thing to me is they haven't really dropped the ball on any jerseys yet, I don't really mind the hockey ones although they could be better.

Totally agree. Without the Jordan shoes, it feels like we're only getting half the package. I've spent way more than I should have on shirts, jackets, and hoodies, but would totally go all out for shoes. As it stands, there's not a big incentive to buy more gear this year. Plus, weird placement of the Jumpman logo on Harbaugh's shirt this year.

and think its equal to Nike or better. I am not impressed with the Nike quality at all. I purchased the grey and blue pull over last year. The one that has the sleeves that change colors. I could not be more disappointed. Its seems impossible to get the wrinkles out and the fit is terrible for my body type. I purchased a 25.00 Nike T-shirt at game last year and after three or four washings it was completely faded. Conversely, I have an Adidas, Michigan golf polo and a white Michigan pull over that Fits fantastic and I get many compliments when I wear either. I'm not a Nike or Adidas fan, particularly, but I really liked a lot of the Adidas stuff and have been disappointed with the Nike stuff.

I want an XL shirt to feel like an XL shirt. I like loose shirts. My old Nike shirts are much better.

The money for the stuff makes me think twice about how much I want it.

Don't hate Nike. Don't love Nike. In the end, if I want it, I will get it. Logo be damned.

that too often the sewn on Jumpman, helmet logo or block M logo looks cheap. It just doesn't appear to be high quality. Neg away but I was blown away at how poor some of the gear looked. However, I did just by a pair of the maze, Fab five shorts and I love them.
