Malik MCDowell Reported hurt in ATV accident; placed on reserve/did not report list

Submitted by Dailysportseditor on

Malik McDowell was placed by the Seahawks on the reserve/did not report list following an ATV accident in which he suffered head injuries.  With all the concerns regarding his mental state in the past, this is just not a good development.  Hope he recovers quickly and gets on with his pro career after leaving MSU early.  http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2017/07/malik_mcdowell_injured_…

Word is that he may be done for the season.

I'm also curious about his contract situation. NFL contracts - so I've heard - sometimes have clawback provisions for injuries, and putting him on the Did Not Report list might be interpreted as a step in that direction. Anyone have insight?

It's amazing to me how many people get seriously hurt on those. I know two people who have hit trees on those, resulting in head injuries.

I hope McDowell makes a speedy recovery, and spends his Saturdays watching MSU get wrecked this fall, but is otherwise OK and on the field soon. That would be good for him, and also underscore that MSU's specialty is developing 2 and 3 stars - five star athletes need not apply.

But if you were to tell me that one dude from the '17 draft was going to get injured doing something dumb McDowell would have been my first guess.

Always sucks to hear guys get hurt. Hopefully this isn't career threatening. Sadly, I'm not totally surprised he did something a little dumb.

couple of years ago.  If the tree I hit had been 6 inches to the left I wouldn't be hre.  I flew at least 15 feet and landed flat on my back.  I got one fractured rib and some seroius shin scrapes from flying over the handlebars, but I survived.  I learned my lesson that day.  Never again, I was stone cold sober, never drink and ride, asking for instant death otherwise.

I don't see why anyone cares about a non michigan player, non big ten (anymore), who is long gone.

sorry, I just woke up on the asshole side of the bed this morning.
