Pick a 21st Century Michigan Player... With a catch
Name one 21st Century Michigan Football player that you would love to have on the team this year. The catch is that once a player has been named by a user, he can't be a choice anymore. I'll start off with an obvious answer of Jake Long, as an All-American left tackle can really do wonders to assuage one's doubts about the line. Now that Long is off the board, who's next?
Taco Pants
Tacopants is Nico Collins
Technically, the post said "with a catch" so Taco Pants is not an option. But Steve Breaston would be and our punt/kick return games would benefit from him
Gary. Oh, wish granted!
Not sure if serious...
He and the two upvoters, prolly not that good at math.
Woodson was ahead of his time.
JD, no question. I'm generally pretty optimistic about Long and Hill too, but having an elite, shutdown corner on one side would alleviate a lot of pressure from what projects to be a young secondary.
Jake Long.
Jourdan Lewis
Peppers
he also has his diploma. If it weren't for Borges he'd have two Heismans as well.
Butt
Steve Hutchinson. He played in 2000 so he counts. He gives us a kick ass interoir line, allows for flexibility, and for certain guys (like Ruiz and Onenwu?) to RS. Second choice would be Alan Branch given our DT depth and the fact Mone still has question marks.
+1 for working in a redshirt!
The year 2000 was still in the 20th century since there was no year zero.
...but still find it weird that we count from -1 AD to 1 AD
I pity the LB that makes that mistake. I will take my pancakes in Floridated Texas heat please with a side of Gary coming with the hard edge (oh shit... I actually used a RR term.)
Well ef me then... I will take my 21st century dude as Shoelace in a RR 'O' with Brandon in a Brown 'D'. What might have been.
Must have football ... must Go Blue!
This 21st century shit has got to stop by the way. Most of my Michigan memory is 20th century shit. In that vein... I will take Ron Simpkins for the fucking goal line fumble that wasn't. Almost as fresh to me as Wormley's 4th down stop that wasn't. Since no one is reading this now anyways... Fuck it ... Simpkins to the grave brothers. I will never forget that. What a stud.
Tom Brady
Left Michigan in 2000. Not technically a 21st century UM player...
Since this is a hypothethical post, let's suppose the 21st century started in 2000.
Cornerback for me is the biggest question mark on this team.
I'm wondering who our board thinks was the better player at his position...
I'd go with Hall.
Hall
Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny?
put a PS4 or Xbox in your basket? Nope, but Santa drops these under trees on a regular basis.
Both had very disappointing final games in blue. Hall got torched by Dwayne Jarrett and USC while JD had a poor Orange Bowl. Still, I give the slight edge to Lewis. He was Revis-level good for pretty much 3 years.
Out of all the good they did those are the memories you choose to rekindle?
I'll go with JD.
Braylon.
Nick Sheridan
Wait, no, I said cake!
I was going to to with Henne but clearly I forgot about someone.
Taylor Lewan
Because I love to see my defensive backs never face the ball and constantly get hit with it in the helmet/shoulder pad/back/ass/leg area.
I almost spit my drink on the bar. Well played.
At the bar at 2:00 on a Sunday? Bravo to you sir.
It's a Shirley Temple.
Jake Ryan.
Drew Henson with these weapons would run away with the Heisman and spank all the rivals IMO.
I actually think Henson had better weapons and a better team when he really played.
I must select an upperclassman REINCARNATION of Braylon Edwards. Before the hot fires of Cleveland and the Rex Ryan era forged him into somewhat of a curmudgeon, he was quite titillating to watch. He would provide a much needed veteran presence in the receiving corps.
Prepare B1G secondaries...for MASSACRE.
Devin Gardner
Would love to see how Don Brown would use him
Or Jason Avant, give the receiving corps some experience
Viper Stevie Brown
I wouldn't mind seeing Brandon Graham opposite Gary
