Saturday Night Drinking Thread

Submitted by SlickNick on

First post...figured I would make it one about drinking... I just had a Bell's Quinannan Falls Ale, followed by a Blackrock's Grand Rabbits while doing some "work" in the garden.  Now switching to a little whiskey and coke.   What's everyone else drinking tonight?

Stopped off at Mountain Town and Alma Brewing Co. after some disc golf today, so I got all my drinks in a little early. Alma had a red Saison that was worth checking out.

So sorry to hear about your friend. Was he killed in the line of duty? My friend's father passed away last year and he was in the Army, and my friend who is a naval officer presented the flag to his mother. I totally lost it and I wasn't even that close to the deceased. That must be heartbreaking to witness.

in law enforcement, all 'cop' funerals pull at your heart more.  there is a bond with those that have served, the intensity of which is directly proportionate to what you did while it was your time on duty, that is hard to explain.   every cell in your body feels it.

that EOW call was not something i'd ever seen done live before.  i mentioned in the other thread it was piped live through the church sound system.  the elected sheriff who is also a friend called dispatch and had them put out a call on all the emergency channels for my buddy's call sign.  an "All units, please stand down.  This is a call for [friend's call sign]."   dispatch waited about 30 seconds between each of the three times it made that call for my friend.   then after the third call dispatch broadcast, "May it be noted that on July 8th at 1338 hrs,  Lieutenant ____  has joined his Lord and Savior".   I freaking lost it as did every cop in the church.

i won't ever forget that call.  heck, i'm getting misty just typing this.  God bless Clint's family.

The kid who lived behind me mowed my lawn. Grew up and joined the Marines. Went to Afghanistan and got blown up along with his bomb sniffing dog. Dec. 21, 2010. That funeral was the toughest ever. I didn't ever cry like that, not for my friends or parents even. Some things stay with you. Sorry for your loss.

I was drinking my second Oberon after dinner, while building a block castle with my two year old, but now it's bath time and after that it's time to read. I never seem to drink more that two beers at home anymore, and even that's rare. To be totally honest though, I'm fine with it.

Drinking a couple Admiral Nelson's and coke after a long day at work. Had 6/30-7/4 off of work so I had a loooooong weekend of drinking on the lake that started with a family golf outing that features about 400 jello shots for around 36 golfers. Always a shame how fast July 4th goes by.

With my son on a college visit at Wisconsin. Sitting on the Terrace over Lake Mendota, people watching, and sipping Lake Louie Warped Speed Scotch Ale. For Not Michigan, this isn't half bad.

I finally found a place that sells Bell's Kalamazoo Stout and I am enjoying that at the moment - finding a good craft beer selection in the western reaches of the downriver portion of Wayne County is not as easy as you might think, after all.

The Meijer in Belleville finally began carrying various varieties of Alaskan too - the Freeride APA is pretty damn good, as is their Winter Ale.

Watching the 08 Wisconsin game on BTN. God I forgot how awful that first half was; probably the worst in memory. Also, that 08 D was still pretty good in spite of how bad the O was.

Also, why did Rich Rod start McGuffie over Minor?!?!?

Unfortunately I don't have any at home, but this weekend I tried Two Roads Persian Lime Gose. Wow--a perfect summer beer. My mission now is to find a place that sells cans so I can stock up.
