From the sounds of it, this is a pretty big upset. All the insider types were saying Nance to Michigan was pretty much a done deal. I wonder what swayed him to the purple side.

that tied us to the Mo Bamba/Greer Love booster/impermissible benefits possible situation that were all started when Harbaugh came here that indicated that Beilein is dirty, and it scared him off  because the RCMB posters tied it up all so clearly and concisely.

I should have qualified further:  This is the only acceptable laughter-inducing response.

We all know the possible reasons why Nance committed to NW:

1.  Johns signing + mutual interest in other forwards

2.  Donlon hiring

3. Perhaps non-committable UM offer

4.  Collins buzz

5.  NW infrastructure upgrades*

The thought of a NW bagman doling out cash to 3 star recruits is hilarious, especially since the bagman bogeyman is the knee jerk response of so many posters around here whenever we lose a recruit.

But I don't think an assistant coach leaving should sway your plans, especially if they are that solid.

It is about the program, the campus, the opportunity, the overall experience at Michigan. Not Billy Donlon.

Which leads me to believe that the whole idea that he was an M lock was far from true.

If they are a lock and they commit, they were a lock. If they are a lock and they don't commit, they only seemed to be a lock. If they were a lock, commit, then decommit for their own reasons, it's a broken lock. If another team steals them, it's a picked lock. If more than one of these happens, it's a combination lock.

Well, in this case it wasnt just an assistant coach leaving, but an AC leaving and going to the other school in his top-2. If he really liked Donlon, and it was close between the two, its not hard to think that Donlon switching allegiances could have a little sway for the kid.

MIght have been much simpler than that. Could be N'W pressed him and told him they had another forward they liked that they were going to offer in the near future and that kid was a likely commit once offered. Or maybe he didn't want to compete with Johns + one of Iggy or Jerome Hunter or Tyson. Saw a clearer path to playing time sooner at N'W, which is also true.

If he and his dad were introduced to DD and it was a done deal at Team Camp, the Donlon news shouldn't have affected him much (he was already at least rumored to be gone by that point). I'm surprised a NW visit could change so much for Nance. I'm assuming Hunter Tyson is a take now?
