OT: RIP Kent Dorfman / Flounder from Animal House

Submitted by East German Judge on

Just saw this on CNN.com, that one of the actors from one of my favorite movies of all time - Animal House - has died.  Strephen Furst who played the character Kent Dorfman aka Flounder, passed away at the age of 63 due to complications from diabetes.

Thanks for the laughs Stephen and may you rest in peace....

Unfortunately, the "fat" part of it probably contributed substantially to his demise. I can tell you from personal experience that diabetes is a bitch and takes no prisoners if you don't take all steps to control it. He brought smiles to lots of faces. RIP.

Throw a beer can at his face on a projection TV and exclaim "but we need the dudes!" Hopefully Kent willed the delta chi deathmobile to his brother back in Harrisburg. May he get to routinely shout "Oh Boy!" in the next dimension. Thanks for the laughs, I was let into the theater as an underage with my dad to watch Animal House when it first was released and I never saw dad laugh harder. Party on my friend, you and your on-screen fraternity brothers were my inspiration at the Theta Theta chapter of Sigma Chi (Michigan).

I loved his physical comedy; he's sent me into laughing fits plenty of times. Many know his work in Animal House, which was fantastic. I really enjoyed his comedy in Up the Creek, too. Sad to hear of his death.

of the best movies of all time. Next to Caddy Shack (if you play golf) I can't think of another movie that has provided as many lines that have become part of our regular conversation. Watch it today and it still stands up for me. Unfortunately my kids aren't as enthusiastic, which shows how old I am.
RIP Flounder

When I was 18 or 19 years old I worked clerking at a gas station. I worked every sunday night. I would listen to the Sunday sports album with Mitch Albom. At the end of the show they played the clip from Bluto saying, Over? , nothing is over until we decide it is... You know the rest . Then I would always go home and watch Animal House after i got off around 11.... I have watched that movie so many times .

Im going to watch it tonight , for Flounder ....

Animal House dialogue is perfect for many occasions, especially from this scene. Once when I was in a play, the entire cast was on stage for curtain call. It was the final performance, and the director (an egotistical prick whom nobody liked), chose that night to come on stage to say a few words and get his ego fluffed.

Without missing a beat, the guy standing next to me delivered a perfectly-timed "*cough*blowjob*cough*". I'm afraid it may have tarnished the director's beautiful moment.

Another role of his I liked as a kid was the 80's movie dream team about a group of psych patients that get lost in NYC whileven route to a Yankees game. Has Michael Keaton, Christopher Lloyd and the grandpa from everyone lives Raymond.

Right before the fall I moved into a fraternity house. So we had a great time that year with all the "Animal House-ism's". Is that a pledge pin????
Memories. RIP Stephen.

Let us not forget that the guy who played Niedermeyer, Mark Metcalf, went to Michigan! I believe he was a friend of Carl Grapentine's, in fact.

So it was here that he learned to say "A PLEDGE PIN?? ON YOUR UNIFORM??"

Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Many overweight people develope Type 2 and are unaware that it can be reversed by diet. They can end medication and live a normal life. Former Michigan football player, Marc Ramirez (Chickpea and Bean), is a big time advocate for this. He and his whole family suffered with Type 2 until he learned that he could do something about it with nothing more than a simple change of diet. You can find Marc on Facebook or at chickpeaandbean.com.
