No politics is a good rule to keep in mind here.
From a football perspective - Obama is likely very popular amongst most of the kids we recruit and building some ties to a President re-inforces what we are as an accademic institution.
From recruiting, I view this is a big score.

Did you ever stop to think that politics might not have as much to do with it as you think. There's really not a "shitty double standard" at all. I'd be fine with W being an honorary captain. In fact, I think it would be cool if W and Obama were captains TOGETHER.
W would be a much stronger advocate for an attacking defense though. Just sayin'.

Only President since 2001 who drinks is Obama, for the record. Bush is an alcoholic who swore off the stuff and Trump is a teetotaler because his brother died of substance abuse.

First of all, he hit 50% in a Rasmussen poll, which has a C+ rating on FiveThirtyEight for accuracy (not the worst, but not the best either).

Gallup has him at 37% through last week (B- rating on 538)
In his first 100 days, he had 53% disapproval vs. 42% approval. The only president to have his disapproval outweigh his approval rating dating back to Truman (ABC has an A+ on 538).

I think a lot of people are annoyed because it seems facts don't matter to a lot of people nowadays, and all of us can be guilty of ascribing stereotypes to people based on a simple statement. What almost everyone on this board can agree on is we love Michigan. Go Blue.
National polls were almost dead on. With a major late news story. It was the polls in MI, PA, and WI that sucked.
There was ONE POLL(Rasmussen, which is known to be right leaning) that said his approval rating was at 50%. The next closest poll says that his approval rating is at 42%. And the average of all the polls is at 39.5%. Do a little bit of research before posting something from an obviously biased source.

My pet peeve is not referring to preseidents by their nicknames, such as "B-Roc, Dubya, and Tricky Dick."
I use W to distinguish from his father which makes that tricky. And I don't pretend to have much respect for Nixon. Otherwise, yes.
This may seem weird to say on a sports focused forum but I feel weird referring to people as numbers. It's so impersonal!
Don't forget "Slick Willie" - "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" . It's only funny if you say it in his voice.

Former President isn't a title...it's a fact. He's the former President of the United States.
