Hooray for competency!
I don't like having a band at games as it distracts from the glory of an Athetic Director.
Great. Looking forward to seeing that game in person.
Still wish we were NOT playing in Dallas though.
The only better scenerio would be for the Florida game to be our home opener AND the MMB starting off our Football Saturday with the traditional March from Hoover Street to The Big House.
Warde gets it. He's much more than a brand manager.
DB was not going to send the MMB to Texas the last time until donors stepped in. Anyway, happy to have them there and they deserve to be in attendance. That's their only road game of the year until the post season.
He announced the band wasn't going, then people gave money so the band could go, then he announced that he was planning to send the band all along and he only said they weren't going so he could get money to send them and therefore everybody who was upset at him was stupid and he was a genius.
That's how I remember it at least. I may have over-simplified it a little.
Sounds very Trump-ian. I bet he announces the Warriors aren't invited to the WH once they officially announce they won't attend.

The Band works hard to support the team and adds a lot to everyone's experience. I'm glad they get the trip.
After the loss, I returned to my hotel, an older couple sporting 'Bama gear said 'Well, the game didn't go how you wanted, but y'all have one hell of a marching band." I never played an instrument, but it was oddly validating, and shows the importance that MMB holds not just for our games and our fans, but how their performances represent the university.
Glad Warde learn from DB idiotacy..Wish Florida was a home-home hear this year and at the swamp next year but all well
Did he learn or just make the right call?
We're spending money out the ass and putting it all back to the student athlete, support staff and in this case...the band. There should have been ZERO doubt.
You don't take a trip to Rome and then leave the band behind for Dallas.
Is integral to a game day experience.
We should yell at Warde Manuel more. He's doing so many things correctly, without any attention, that it's irritating.
This is what happens when you have an AD that doesn't want to make every story about themselves, and actually understands that college athletics is about more than profit maximization and optimal synergy.
We need our band to play the Victors a lot!
If I were thee AD Id find the funds to send the MMB to every away game...I dont get how most other teams take their bands to most of their away games, maybe not all but most and we rarely do
Totally. And you don't have to send the whole band.
USC, for instance, sends a contingent to every away game based on seniority. The full band only goes to games like Notre Dame.
You have the money for that?
If you have marquee away games it makes sense, but why would you want to send the band to Northwestern, Purdue or Indiana? The stadiums there already get overtaken by Michigan fans. That, I would say, would be a waste of money.
Still wish we had a home and home and weren't playing a neutral site game in some sterile, corporate NFL stadium, but definitely happy the band gets to go. They're such an integral part of the game experience.
Either way, I doubt Florida would've agreed to a home and home. Most SEC teams outside of LSU and Alabama believe the world does not exist above the Mason-Dixon line.
