The man is a leader in all aspects of his life.
Birthing calves, participating in Congressional hearings....the man is redefining the role of "coach" in some rather unique ways, thus ensuring that the SEC will try to push legislation to prevent him from doing so outside of a very narrow window of time and only if it is partly cloudy on a Tuesday or something along these lines.
This is an issue all coaches and programs -especially ones in the SEC - should be in favor of: good, cheap lawyers for when their players get in trouble!
( I know that sounded flippant but access to adequate legal representation is a serious problem in this country and my girlfriend actually works for a group that provides legal services to clients who can't afford them)
SEC is totally fine with his testimony.
But they will be watching carefully to make sure he doesn't start pre-testimony stretching too soon.
Does anyone know why he became interested in this? It may be just that he read about it and is being an active citizen, but any other reason?
I know that he says his 2005 DUI "made me a better counselor." Maybe that got him interested?
He's testifying to support continued funding for the Legal Services Corporation. He has served on its advisory board for a few years.
Washington DC is in play.
Federally defunding the LSC doesn't mean that the poor won't get help.
