Graham Spanier to Jail For Two Months
Ex-Penn State University president Graham Spanier was sentenced to two months in prison on Friday following his conviction on a misdemeanor charge for failing to report an incident of suspected child abuse involving Jerry Sandusky in 2001.
Would like to see more, but glad to see that this happened.
Gonna be a long, hard, painful two months for Graham. As it should be.
I see what you did there. +1
I hope his cellmate is named Bubba.
as a deterrent.
Rape isn't funny.
Not long enough. They send weed offenders longer.
If JoePa had been caught smoking weed, Penn State fans would have denied that he smoked, claimed it was all a conspiracy, and questioned the very existence of weed at all. And nobody would get in trouble.
would be renamed in his honor, and he would be feted as being a visionary, ahead of his time in decriminalization. And a second statue added to the PSU grounds.
Paterno could have walked out to the 50 yard line midway through the 2nd quarter of a football game, with a 3 ft. bong in one hand, a fat sack of weed in the other, and taken 4 rips on national television, yet the fanbase would have denied it.
"He didn't know what was in the bag." "That wasn't JoePa." "Television crews doctored the footage." "Media witch hunt." ...you name the excuse, they have it.
Many still deny he shit his pants against the Buckeyes.
They'd demand the Board of Trustees build a statue of a marijuana leaf on campus and Ohio State fans jimmies would be rustled that they didn't think of it first.
So would half of the people in Ann Arbor..
Name one person who was sentenced to 10 years for possessing 2 joints.
You are correct...the guy got 13 years for two joints...

So this guy got screwed, I'm not debating that, but he had 7 prior drug convictions including multiple felonies. If Spanier had 7 prior convictions I think he'd get more than 2 months also.
The point is that marijuana users/sellers are punished more harshly than people that don't report child sex offenders.
Major flaw in the system.
This is a Michigan blog and you never heard of John Sinclair. Unbelievable!!!!!
Brother John Sinclair.

I was at the John Sinclair Freedom Rally at Crisler in 1971. I heard Lennon debut the Ballad of John Sinclair that night.

Hmmm, there are either a lot of broken sarcasm detectors or a lot of people that really hate marijuana.
The ex-VP and ex-AD both got jail time and house arrest. The judge even critized Paterno for not doing anything. It was a victory for justice all around, but too little and far too late. Making Paterno die in jail would have been fitting, even if it would give his family ammunition for haters ruining the legacy.
Fuck penn state
all the delusional, JoPa loving fans!
I'm sure that might feel like a lifetime for Graham, but that seems like a very short sentence given the position he held and the role he played.
Is it wrong to wish for slapping sounds in his cell?
Yes. He fucked it big time But we are Not talking about Sandusky here. Or even Patwrno.
Spanier could have put an end to it. There were a few that could have. Therefore they were all responsible for enabling Sandusky. They didn't even ban Sandusky from their facilities or attempt to shutdown his foundation, all to avoid a media shitstorm and permanent black eye on the university.
I could give two shits what happens to that entire lot, and I'm not a hateful person.
Insurance companies paid out claims in 1976 for Sandusky's actions. Everyone in charge knew damn well what they had there.
He goes by his middle name in the slammer, Basil.
actually I'm very surprised he got any time in the slammer at all. Usually people in his position (or former position) get off somehow or their lawyers negotiate some kind of deal where the person doesn't serve time. If nothing else this should make him unemployable in the future at any academic institution. Maybe Burger King will hire him.
I could be wrong, but maybe that's one of the better outcomes here - I mean, we can debate the amount of time he gets, but if nothing else, this does more or less guarantee that Graham Spanier never works in academia in any capacity again. Maybe that's a victory for the rest of the world, albeit a small one.
his days in academia were over anyways. And the two months will get dropped on appeal even if his verdict stands.
Here's to hoping he gets Sandusky'd in prison.
Spoken like a person who has never been to prison, probably never even talked extensively to someone close who spent time in orison.
caught commiting a heinous act, and rewarded with emiritus status, access to the football facilities, and free reign to commit his crimes on campus.
My 1st semester of college I was in prison and still got a 3.0 GPA. Worst GPA my entire multi-degree academic career.
You know what they say when you assume? It makes you look like a stupid blathering idiot. Or something like that.
What the hell kind of prison allows you to go to college ? And if this story is true, what the hell were you in prison for ? Not many felons make education a priority.
In my experience prison is about punishment, not rehabilitation.
Two months is plenty of time for his wrist to heal after that slapping.
Wait... Am i doing this right?
No

Is 60 days symbolic for how many boys he helped Sandusky rape?
One of the great overlooked items of this entire scandal is how the NCAA rolled back so many of the sanctions. How, with a straight face, they were able to do that was......
Penn State's culture allowed this happen and their insane fan base continues to celebrate Paterno. If there's any team that I hope Harbs runs the score up against it's Penn State.
To echo the sentiment FUCK PENN ST and the pedo they rode in on.
Disgusting.
