Fmr NFL player Brandon Jacobs rips Coach Harbaugh, sounds like complete idiot

Submitted by Ahriman on

Came across this article on 247 where Brandon Jacobs/sure-fire first ballot hall-of-famer /s  was talking about his time in San Francisco and indicated he is not a fan of Coach Harbaugh because he knows "nothing".

WIth some of the events going on around the world and Memorial Day coming up, thought this might give you guys something to laugh about.

I'm sure his lack of usage that year had no bearing on his evaluation. Full disclosure, not a Giants fan and always thought Jacobs was a prick, and while I can't speak for Coach Harbaugh, he probably thought the same thing.

Here's a quote:

"Size and strength is what they had, and that’s why they won. Let’s be real. They had great assistant coaches, but Jim didn’t know what he was doing. Jim had no idea. Jim is throwing slants into Cover-2 safeties, getting people hurt. That guy knew nothing, man."

He sure wins a lot for a guy who knows nothing.  Guess you can just stumble your way to a successful career coaching football and millions of dollars.

His whole reasoning is that he throws slants into cover 2? I'm no offensive coordinator but aren't you supposed to throw slants at Cover 2? And isn't having great assistants part of being a great head coach? Edit: further investigation reveals that he was suspended by Harbaugh for 3 games for publicly criticizing the coaching decisions. Sounds like he has an axe to grind.

Luck just seems to follow him wherever he goes.  Not Andrew, the other kind.  I will say that one of his greatest strengths seems to be identifying and hiring great assistants.  That means coaching turnover as they get poached, but better than keeping the same guys together because nobody wants them.  (Implied DISRESPEKT!)

I don't think anyone ever accused Brandon Jacobs of being the sharpest tool in the shed. When the Giants played a game in London, he wanted to see the Eiffel Tower, thinking it was in London.

Oh yeah it was just a big coincidence that when Harbuagh took over the 6-10 49ers that they proceeded to go:

13-3 Harbaugh won coach of the year

11-4-1 Made it to the Super Bowl

12-4

And they havent done jackshit since he left. They've gone way downhill since he left now sitting at 2-14 last season.

Even 49ers fans who arent homers of Harbaugh like us UM fans are agree that it was an extremely dumb move to let him go. The last time they were in the playoffs before Harbaugh was 2003. The last time they won an NFC championship and were in the Super Bowl was 1994

To say Harbaugh wasnt the reason for all that is fucking retarded

Michigan fans should have more confidence than to respond to every criticism of coach. Harbaugh coming here was the best thing to happen to the program since the NT. If Brandon Jacobs disagrees then so be it. I can live with that.

It's not that we don't have confidence, it's that Jacobs' statement is almost incomprehensibly idiotic.  You don't spend over a decade playing QB in the NFL and then have an incredibly successful head coaching career by knowing nothing.

When I read the article, I had to ask myself who?????? I'm sorry but this guys football pedigree is a kinda lack-luster. I'm aware of him riding the coat tails of others and getting a couple rings but how many championships he responsible for? How many Pro Bowls has he played in? What was he MVP of? He only had 2 seasons where he cracked 1,000 yards. Why is this washed up jouneyman's opinion based on 1 year, even relevant?

He needs to go concentrate on his failing energy drink company, instead of being a hater thats mad because their two careers compared is no comparison . . . Dismissed!!!!!

He played 9 years in the league. That's something.

I know we will defend Harbaugh because he's our savior but let's not stoop to his level and talk smack about him - especially since he had a better pro career than any Michigan RB in the last 30 years or so. His stats are better than Tyrone Wheatley's pro stats.

That said, his criticism of Harbaugh is weak, childish, and seemingly motivated by resentment.

Before Harbaugh arrived in San Francisco they hadn't made the playoffs in what, over a decade?

Everywhere Jim has been a head coach he has immediately won, including at Stanford where he took over one of the worst football schools in the country, and turned them into monsters in no time. Jim dominated at university of San Diego, and literally took Hokes players from a 5-7 team with no confidence, and turned them into back to back 10-3 seasons... last year lost 3 games by what, 5 points?

Man Brandon Jacobs is salty as fuck. Harbaugh must of pissed in his cheerios.

As a Bears fan, and having seen them run the cover 2 relentlessly under Lovie Smith, I witnessed teams marching up and down the field on them (Even at their peak) using two routes: The quick slant and the inside seam or post. This guy is simply a butthurt washout that was mad about not being in the rotation.
