No self-respecting fan of punk or metal would want anything to do with this auto-tuned crabcore bullshit.
You're entitled to you're own opinion. But because you don't like it, no other punk or metal fan can? Ya, that's reasonable.
This is not metal or punk. At very best this is screamo. No, that is not a compliment to the song or genre.
it should be classified as "bad" haha. i cant tell who looks more like a poser band. these guys or black veil brides. at least BVB has a half-ish decent song tho
but still, little far. im sure some punk ppl like it. the devil wears prada still did the best cover of all metal bands wen they covered "still fly" in my opinion.
They are who we thought they were
wait, what?
yeah, so this thread wasn't what I expected...
Better than I thought it was going to be. But, once it got incoherent, it lost me.
well i DID say that that cover was the best of all METAL bands. u have to expect there to be some screaming...
EDIT: while i may not be a big fall out boy fan, for wat its worth they did a pretty good cover of beat it. plus...turk from scrubs is in their video =P

This is not punk nor metal, i don't know why you'd think fans of either genre would like it.
I feel the urge to drive out to the suburbs and complain about my parents after listening to this.
your emover looks good or they won't take you seriously.
another band that did a cover of this is The Spill Canvas

Just what that song deserved.
That was amazing.
thank you both for the positive comments... they really just make a joke out of it and that is awesome. way better than the screaming that puts screaming to shame
This reminds me of The Gourds when they redid Gin and Juice. Equally awesome.

did u see the David Cone cover...Brilliant
This is absolute crap. What happened to music? Did it just die. Although I've got to thank some of you guys in the Lolapalooza thread a couple of days ago. I had never heard of The Gaslight Anthem, and holy shit is this a great band. My ipod is now loaded.
try alkaline trio if u like gaslight. iunno if theyre that close but i like alkaline trio
I listened to Alkaline Trio a lot when I was younger. I really liked goddamnit and The one with Mr. Chainsaw on it, I can't think of it right off the top of my head.
For some reason, every time I see "The Alkaline Trio," I think it says "The Al Kaline Trio," which I assume would sing barbershop or something
to you and on a similar mistake by my one friend who own's one of their t-shirts (he never head of them he just liked the shirt) so when we asked him who the band was, he said "Alkaline TR 10"...which led to extreme laughter.
+500 for the Weakerthans avatar
The greatest band in the history of music...
Posts like this make me feel old. And wise. Very wise.
Tough crowd here :/ I liked it, but oh well. Guess my others MGoBoarders don't. My bad.
It's nothing personal. If it moves you, then have at it.
is the worst thing i've heard all week. This isn't music, this is a coma wrapped in nightmare.
What's with all of the screaming?
They are expressing their frustration with being white, male Americans -- what's worse, being part of the generation that has enjoyed the most unearned, expendable capital in the history of the world. So much to be ANGRY about!
Wouldn't that generation that "enjoyed the most unearned, expendable capital in the history of the world" actually be the Baby Boomers? As in, you know, the people who've controlled capital for the past 30 years and did so largely on the fruits of the WWII generation's labor?
/Son of baby boomers.
Screaming can be used to good effect in a song... just not that one.
Case in point:
+1, one of my favorite bands. You should check out Dustin's solo work if you haven't already.
I have, in fact. Please Come Home is totally different from his work with Thrice, but still amazing.
http://www.waterispoison.com/audio.php You might know about this page already, but if not, check it out - quite a few good live and rare recordings, including several Dustin solo sets.
Ever see them live?
I saw them when they opened up for New Found Glory when Artist in the Ambulance came out. I basically left after Thrice because NFG is terrible.
Dustin was headlining a free show sponsored by TOM shoes to raise money. He played some awesome covers and also sang a childrens song for his daughter, but added his usual Dustin soul to it. It was pretty awesome considering it was free.
Good stuff. I've seen them twice - once opening for Brand New at The Fillmore Detroit, and once headlining at Clutch Cargo's. The set was way too short at the Fillmore, which was disappointing... but the ridiculously long set at Clutch Cargo's more than made up for that. (Plus the opener that night was Circa Survive - absolutely incredible band, the combination made it the best concert I've been to by far.)
Anyway, good to know there's other fans out there. It's a shame that a band with so much pure talent isn't better known. Then again they're big enough to tour nationally, headline at a mid-level venue, and not cost an arm and a leg to go see.. so maybe they're at the sweet spot.
This has to be included in an early "Worst threads of 2010" list.
I like this better than the original. Of course, I also like shots in the ass better than I like root canals so, there's that.
God, that was bad.
I like covers a lot more when they do a good job of reinterpreting the song. This version is basically the same as the original except there's a guy singing and some light backing guitars.
They need 7 people to make it sound like 3. You consider this punk?
What happened to music? Everything sounds like whiny bitching. I can't even listen to the radio anymore. The classic rock and oldies stations play the same songs everyday and all the modern rock bands sing about is how badly they want to fuck some hot chick.
It's all about image and how you look on the cover of a magazine instead of the music you write.
I love how you say, "Really GOOD!" like we're all going to agree with you and thank you for bringing this noise into our lives.
If I decide to go all punk and such, can I grow out my hair and just push it to the side like those guys? I've been needing a haircut and looking for a way to avoid it. This seems like a pretty easy way out.
Also, this song is just brutally bad.
I'm usually a really laid back kind of guy. But I can't handle this crap. Scroll back up to that tik tok video and look at that band. Then scroll back down to this comment and tell me you don't want to beat every one of their asses. Its like trying to eat a tablespoon of cinnamon you just can't do it.
I really don't want to post the video again, as it has already caused MGoBoard more emotional damage than it needs.
there's always breathe carolina. same god-awful idea
You're free to like what you like and I don't have the right to tell you otherwise. But for you to demand that we all agree with you... that's where the negbang starts.
There are some things you just don't bring up around people you don't really know, or who don't know you.
