There was some whispy smoke swirling around but I wouldn't get too excited. It's gonna take bad seasons from ND and the Ravens. Only one of those are likely. I'm guessing Baltimore sucks while ND turns in an 8-4 season - which strangely enough seems to satisfy the Figthins these days (ACADEMICS AND STANDARDS!).

What the shit!? And he's probably still getting paid by Kansas too, so somewhere in the the neighborhood of $25m+ to NOT coach football???? Guys, this man is a genius, plain and simple.

because we have the 6th highest per-capita annual income at $15,500, & god didn't curse Liberia because they have the lowest income at $118.

Every teacher is paid a "living wage".  Many teachers are paid 6 figures.  None of them got into it because it is lucrative.

I'm glad you know some schoolteachers making 6 figures, but those ones I know are working in inner city districts and making $20-$30k per year, most with families to support and some being the sole providers for said families. But yes, they are not there because of the payout - they know they are helping those who need it. I just believe they are worth more than they are paid.

Inner city charter schools. Working with young kids in a tough neighborhood (some really heartbreaking stories in some cases). Pay is not great, but they can qualify for federal loan forgiveness if they stay for 10 years (not true for private loans though). Starting pay in mid $20k to maybe $30k per year.

It's kinda like gonorrhea. Regardless what the situation was at the time; maybe you were drunk, or just super lonely and it was one of those days life just hit you hard and he showed up at just the right time and made you feel kinda special for the first time in ages...I don't know. All i know is that you made some really, really bad decisions, and now you have this terrible disease and it doesn't matter anymore how you got it; you'd just pay ANYTHING to get rid of it. So if that's the way your looking at it, the buyout is a bargain if you ask me.

We laugh now, but Notre Dame looked pretty damned smart locking down his services long term after that epic win over USC.

What?  Oh yeah ... that's right.  I mean that epic loss to USC.

So yeah, we were laughing then, too.

Still think Brian Kelly gets this season and next season unless ND manages to finish 3-9 or he punches a player. I think in order to fire Kelly it seems like Savvy Jack would need to be fired as well. 3 years ago an ND fan was giving me crap about poor season ticket sales for Michigan football. Now, Michigan has sold all season tickets while ND has resorted to running ads on the radio in Chicago for season tickets and many ND alumni clubs can't even give tickets away.

...this makes me smile a "little" on the inside...still wish Bo (God Bless him) hadn't kicked to Rocket... twice... as nearly all 106,000 of us "advisors" in attendance suggested otherwise that day (pretty sure we had a quorum) and solid majority on that particular in-game strategy. Yet somehow watching ND pay $20M to that douche nearly 20 years later while rolling out Boy Purple to right the ship feels....good.

I would just like to put it out there that if you are on this board and are an AD looking for a football coach with an overly thought scheme that is ultimately doomed to failure, I would like to get some mailing information so that I might submit my resume and salary expectations. My coaching experience is limited to baseball, if this helps.
