Frank Clark acting stupid (again.)

Submitted by The Krusty Kra… on
I'm not going to be so naive to think that A. Anyone who is accused of or commits domestic violence cannot change, but I also know the NFL will never care enough when athletically gifted individuals who make the league money treat women like shit. Frank Clark decided to tell a writer (who had the audacity to once write about his domestic violence issues) that he has a job for her cleaning his fish tank once she washes out of journalism. I'm not asking for people to be perfect but what a stain he left behind in leaving the program how he did and his actions since. http://deadsp.in/rlze6C2

Frank Clark "threatened" a reporter?  A Tweet talking about her cleaning his fish tank is a "threat"?

I do see that Natalie Weiner Tweeted sarcastically that "writing about sexual violence is fun and risk free."  Implying that she has been put at "risk."

Pray that she never runs into Doug Pirhana:

Vercotti: Well I had noticed that the lad with the thermonuclear device was the chief constable for the area. So a week later they called again and told me the cheque had bounced and said... I had to see... Doug.

2nd Interviewer: Doug?

Vercotti: Doug... (takes a drink) Well, I was terrified. Everyone was terrified of Doug. I've seen grown men pull their own heads off rather than see Doug.  Even Dinsdale was was frightened of Doug.

2nd Interviewer: What did he do?

Vercotti: He used... sarcasm.  He knew all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, pathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire.

A. He's not a great human being, and hasn't learned a thing.

B. If you can play, the NFL/teams put up with a lot.

C. It is fun to shit on other colleges, but remember Michigan has had several terrible people walk through Schembechler Hall's door. Thankfully, the athletic department has seemingly done their best to stop such transgressions, unlike other schools.

The last one (this thread), is really not that serious and could've been a joke.

...one of those doesn't belong with the others.

I'm not a fan of Clark (or Lewan or other Michigan players)...but this thread is kind of weak in piling on Frank Clark. It was a rude comment, that's it.

It was a rude demeaning comment toward women directed at a particular woman because she wrote a completely factual story that tangentially involved Clark a couple years ago.

Not something a great human being does.

Heck - it's not even something I would do (much less the other stuff) and I'm FAR from a great human being.

"It was a rude comment, that's it."

Ehh... it was a rude comment specifically directed at a woman who dared to write about his past transgressions about women.

So it was a bit more than a rude comment. If he made it to some other woman, it might be just a rude comment - but there is context and a past here.

"The fact that she's a woman really has nothing to do with it. I don't get why her gender makes her less capable of handling a rude comment. It's a rude comment, period."

It's verbal abuse of a woman - by a man who has a history of domestic violence against women.

The fact that she is a woman has a lot to do with it - because Frank Clark seems to have a problem controlling himself with respect to women.

I'm sure she can handle it - but it says quite a lot about Clark's attitude toward women.

OP: Most of the people who read your post will probably see eye-to-eye with you, but it's usually best to just present the news.

I think the whole point of the board is to react to M related news.  I appreciate people that take a second to summarize or discuss a topic.  I'd rather see this than something link: Clark says mean thing: LINK.   A huge chunk of sports is discussing opinions.  If the OPs opinion is out of line, the board will smack him down.

I'll probably get negged for this because I always point it out, but on this play it was ruled that Miller fumbled and Clark "recovered" said fumble. Meyer had a hissy fit and everyone was confused until the announcer (whom I believe was Sean McDonough) showed it on slow motion. Points 1 & 3 are still valid though.

You win!  It was a joke about an old meme on the board about not enjoying anyting until we beat our rivals.

That said, plays like the Clark hit mean much more when they actually impact the game instead of just create a highlight...IE, strip sack - fumble - returned for 6.

I dunno. I think putting your helmet on the arm holding the ball and nealry killing a playmaker like Miller was a pretty good way to go on that one. Remember he is playing at full speed, not slow motion like the gif. Personally, I would rather knock out one of the best players in CFB (at the time) than get one for sure forced fumble that isn't guaranteed to be recovered by your own team.

Stupid thing to say, but I get how it could be upsetting that a writer brings you down in public fashion.

Don't beat up your GF and this isn't an issue. The piece wasn't even really about him; it was her sense of betrayal that the team she rooted for broke a stated promise to not draft a guy accused of DV and how that affected her as a female fan. This isn't someone calling him out for being a mediocre pass rusher. But I doubt Clark even read the article.

Same.

If I remember correctly Frank was pretty upset about the whole thing. None of us know what happened in that hotel. The reporter took a shot or two at him at the time and he remembered it and told her what he thought of her years later. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Anyone who says they don't have a few people they would love to see while they are riding high who had some shit to say to them at their lowest point is a liar.

We know there was a child running down a hotel hallway yelling "Frank is killing our sister." We've seen the pictures of the hotel room. There were police reports and statements and everything. So, yes, we do know what happened.

I'll never understand the instinct of the sports fan to try to augment reality when someone from their favorite team does something ghastly.

I will go on record as saying police reports are often inaccurate.

I don't know. I wasn't there.

I think at this point in human history we can safely say that nobody is above doubt.

Clergy, police, politicians, leaders of business, etc. etc. etc.

Again, I wasn't there. Therefore everything is suspect.

What I am saying is if Frank Clark isn't happy with how this journalist portrayed him at the lowest point of his life and he tweeted about her, I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I'm glad he was upset about hitting his GF. So he isn't a complete psycho. Also, it's clear you didn't read her original article. Clark was barely involved beyond the fact the Seahawks drafted him after pledging not to take someone involved in DV. She commented how hard it was to root for teams that pay only lip service to issues like DV that affect their female fans. But don't worry, she totally took "shots" at Clark and deserved to be taken to task to pointing out he was accused of hitting his GF and actually pled to disturbance.

Give it 10 years. Chances are very good she'll still be a journalist and he'll be the one cleaning fish tanks if he's the typical athlete.
