Crappie fishing in southern Indiana. Time to stock the freezer. Also, beer, lots of beer. Can we make this the drinking thread as well?

Three inches of rain here in southern Wayne County (Michigan) and poor drainage. I may not have to move the tackle box any further than my own backyard this weekend. If nothing else, I did mow back there on Wednesday before it became a lake, so it has a reasonably well-groomed and mulched floor.

We have had several gorgeous days here in NW Iowa. The water temps are rising and the fish should be biting. I might hit Lewis and Clark lake in South Dakota to see if any walleye are hungry. Or I might sit home and do nothing.

i took the 4 youngest kids fly fishing (dry files, as civilized man is intended to fish) wednesday afternoon as it was the youngest's 9th birthday, and it was sunny and gorgeous.  included in the trip are the twins there to the left in my avatar pic.  as per usual we do a little stream-side reeducation about tying knots, where the best place to float your fly is, casting, etc., and then we start.

anyway, we have a couple of rods set up and the 4 of them are switching back and forth as we make our way slowly up river.  understand the youngest, the birthday boy that day, has some special needs so fly fishing is a bit more difficult for him besides the fact that it's difficult for younger kids in general.  we are catching a few fish as we go, small trout and some salmon fry, and thats fun, but the birthday boy has been skunked so far.  the cool story bro part comes when i am helping two of the other kids and i hear a yell and one of the twins is helping the youngest reel in a fish that he's caught on a dry fly, nothing big, but his first without adult or much older sibling assistance.   that made for a very special birthday for our little guy.

so that's my slightly cool fishing story bro summary for the week.

at some point, don't forget to take them too.  taking my daughters to alaska to hunt and fish in july.  the sons will have to wait their respective turn.  my oldest daughter is probably the best fly tier in the family, not that any of us are particularly skilled.  still, fun to get on a river and have her catch something of her own creation.

Hence the thread. It's fun hearing about others fishing at least. One can only avoid female manipulation from the wife so long, I'm painting kitchen (current color has worked perfectly for years). In her defense, I cut a deal and fished 5 days last week (her included). She wins twice....

Our community dock goes in next week, so I'll put my rowboat in then & hopefully be able to fish a bit.

I'm also boat shopping, but I'm on a tight budget & havent found quite what I'm loking for yet.

I'm stationed at Vandenberg AFB and we have about 40 miles of coast line and the fishing pressure is almost nil. Rock fish and cabezon are a blast.

Still, I would trade it all for a great fall day on the Carp River when the kings are running.

Usually go to Kent Lk - Kensington and kill the Bass and Pike with spinnerbait.  We will be going out Sunday morning.  Would like to try out some other local lakes.  Any suggestions?  Heard White Lk was worth trying.

but I haven't since 2012 when a dam blow out ruined my home river. Especially the stretch of river that I have fished for 45 years. Made me sick. Maybe it's time for me to fish the stretches above where the dam used to be and try to recapture some of the magic in my heart.

Went fishing in the the Ionian see today for bream but very tough conditions and little fish :(. Can't wait until I can come back to Michigan next year and maybe one of you guys can show me around for fishing (never fished when I lived in Michigan and only got hooked in the last year or so).
