Well this was his initial draft before Penn State PR editors got their hands on it:

First, special thanks to all the delusional JoPa loving fans who voted and participated in this Trustee Election.  It is a statement of your love for winning football games above all else.  We will always strive to carry your voices, but never those of innocent victims of child molestation as we chart the future course of Penn State.

Being elected to Penn State's Board of Trustees is and should always be a call to service, to represent first and foremost the interests of Penn State, specifically those of its diverse coalition of football fans - the students, alumni, faculty, staff, child molesters and friends of this great University - above all other interests, especially those of innocent young victims of child molestation.

[Dear PR team, please insert some obscure legislative act and reference a quote from one of the guys on Mount Rushmore to help me look like I've read one or two non-football related things, thanks - Jay] For over half a century since my dad became football coach, that call to winning football games has crossed generations.  From State College to State College, and from State College to State College, together we can create and inspire football excellence for Penn State and State College.

While some have uncovered my true motives of this candidacy, be assured I will join the Board of Trustees and leverage your adoration for my pedofile enabling dad.  Together, we can build on the enduring football pride and football values that have never wavered, even when they could have wavered a bit to instead prioritize the interests of innocent victimes of child molestation under dad's watch.  Winning football after all, has always been the foundation of our Alma Mater.

[PR team, again please quote one of the Mount Rushmore guys to send me off sounding well read, thanks - Jay]

It's not that they dont get it. It's that they dont care!!! Allright does everyone get it. People of Pennsylvannia will put Penn State football ahead of anything and especially the reputation of a penn state legacy. They get it and they believe it, the problem is they just don't care. Majority of osu fans are exactly the same way so why should anyone be susprized. I have seen the same behavior for decades. Just look who there coaches are.

by Paterno, where he invokes the names of God and (twice) of Abe Lincoln... all I can say is, may lightning know what to strike down next!

pieces of shit to invoke religion/God(s).

Athiests get a bad rap. Here's a link to a Pew Poll:

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/06/01/10-facts-about-atheists/

"Americans like atheists less than they like members of most major religious groups. A 2014 Pew Research Center survey asked Americans to rate groups on a “feeling thermometer” from zero (as cold and negative as possible) to 100 (the warmest, most positive possible rating). U.S. adults gave atheists an average rating of 41, comparable to the rating they gave Muslims (40) and far colder than the average given to Jews (63), Catholics (62) and evangelical Christians (61)."

This is even though athiests don't fly planes into buildings, molest altar boys, or launch Holy Wars.

PSU is garbage. I felt bad for the players when the scandal first came out, but now, as many Mgobloggers have expressed, screw PSU and everyone associated with that school. They can't claim ignorance now.

Holy tone deaf. Not only is this guy attached by name to the biggest scandal in college sports history, he's spent the last 5 years trying to sue the shit out of PSU.

I swear Penn State and Baylor hold each other's beer while they try to one-up the other's incompetence.

all are eligible to vote.  Jay Paterno garnered 16,233 of those votes.

That's on the order of 2.5%.

Which means that 97.5% of PSU living alumni --- myself included --- did not vote for Jay.

there were only 4 candidates who ran --- people could vote for up to 3.

The best way to get rid of the "Paterno Loyalist" portion of the fanbase is the passage of time.  Eventually the old folk will die away.  The younger alums --- in general (there are always a few individual anecdotes, of course) --- don't care as much.

But you are right - for the time being, they are vocal and motivated.

No problem.  Sorry your fanbase and institution cares more about the legacy of a person who enabled child rape to win football games than they do about the victims.  Its gotta suck knowing everytime you wear a piece of psu clothing people associate you with a piece of shit since your community won't admit what happened and move on.

One one hand, I'm surprised he would even run for that position.  On the other hand, I'd be surprised if he didn't.

In any event, one more reason to remind everyone at every chance we can that Joe Paterno and his cohorts enabled the rape of children on and away from PSU facilities

Maybe Kathy Klages can run for MSU's board of trustees next.
