FWIW, Steve Lorenz has been saying that it won't necessarily affect his choice. He just visited Michigan within the last couple weeks.
I still think he'll end up at Ohio State, but Michigan has a chance. They've made him their #1 priority at linebacker.

Talk around Toledo coaching circles has been that dad has wanted Dallas in Columbus for some time now. Obviously increased efforts from UM could always change that, but it has seemed to me like DG would be a Buckeye if they wanted him.
What's your take on him as a prospect, Magnus?

Michigan has been recruiting Gant as their #1, and only, linebacker option. If he goes somewhere else, they'll move on to a Plan B, but I don't think it's because they have their eye on someone else instead.
FWIW, I know there are some naysayers about Dallas Gant because his cousin Allen Gant didn't do much, but I think Dallas is the real deal as a linebacker. He's a much better athlete and more aggressive player than Allen was.

Can you point to confirmation of this? Josh Newkirk from Scout has written multiple articles referring to them as cousins, and I have seen it elsewhere, too (though it may have been repeated because of Josh Newkirk).
Yeah I've seen that article too. Lorenz said he thought the same but asked Dallas and he said otherwise. It's in the comments of the 247 thread about Gant from 2 days ago.

It's in a VIP thread, but the gist of the quote is that Dallas grew up thinking they were related (and their families are close) but his mom told him that they are not.

When I saw the name, was assuming this was another son of Tony Gant. Guess not.
