New 2018 QB Offer: Tyler Shough
I'll leave it to the professionals to leave a scouting report, but according to 247Sports QB Tyler Shough out of Chandler, AZ picked up a Michigan offer tonight. Which was immediately followed by a Steve Witfong always-right crystal ball.
He's rated as the composite #16 pro-style QB, but his best offers are Harvard, South Carolina and Indiana. Interesting to see the QB board expand prior to the 2 spring game QB visitors, I'd assume Shough is Plan C.
Shough nuff
Shough is fine
Shough you right
Shough me the money!!! Oh, wait. This isn't the SEC.
You Shough look good to me
Now would you please
Swing my way
Shoughty swing my way
Shough you right
You shough did double-post
B1G Shough! .
Ty Shough
Harbaugh
This is probably the type of QB you are going to get after two top 5 guys in a row. Develop him and see what happens after a RS and a couple of years. Also sounds like this kid was a Michigan fan growing up from the twittersphere.
to land a top QB this year after the last two classes. This kid has some raw talent and have to like that 6'4" frame. Definitely needs a lot of work on mechanics, but if we were to land him I think a couple of years working with Pep and Harbaugh they could get that straightened out. Then who knows you might just have a diamond in the rough.
Kerry Collins via his wind-up.
Kid is a sleeper. Amazing tape. Weirdest offer list I've ever seen. Harvard, Yale, Cornell and Columbia. Nebraska, Hawaii, South Carolina, a few others and... Michigan.
I love sleepers.
Full ride at Harvard Yale or Cornell would be sorely tempting...and who wouldn't love to go to school in Hawaii? Kid has some amazing offers
to the Ivy's. So assuming he gets an academic scholarship, he's legit.
Technically true, but they get around it by having their rich alums offer lucrative internships that cover tuition, or something like that.
They get around it by meeting all students full financial needs. From my (limited) understanding, if your parents income is under 250k or something you get a full ride.

The figure is lower than that and they don't cover all expenses (it's a sliding scale based on household income). Also, need based tuition assistance is for all students, not just athletes.
Had my daughter been accepted to the Michigan of the East, it would have cost me about the same as we're paying for instate tuition next fall.
very up and up. They don't offer any athletic scholarships and there is no wink and a hand shake with rich alums giving kids athletic scholarships. You go there you had better be smart and able to pay for it.
Cornell, not so much.
No athletic scholarships
I thought we would offer the #2 QB in Arizona, Jack Plummer, as I posted in the comments of the Recruiting post today. Plummer looks like he can play. However, so can this kid. He's got a really nice arm and can move a fair amount. He looks maybe a little more stiff on the run than Plummer but he is plenty fast for Harbaugh's tastes. Shough plays in more of a pro style system than Plummer, which is probably more attractive to the coaches.
Jake Plummer?
Nope! Wikipedia tells me that Jake Plummer's oldest child is 7 and that he is an avid handball player and cannabis activist (Jake, not the child).
That Jake Plummer and I would have some things in common. Loved watching that guy maneuver around in the pocket
Not just because he's from Arizona, but he reminds me of Brian Lewerke a little bit (MSU's QB whose leg was broken by Jabrill Peppers, IIRC).
I believe it was a sack on a crucial 4th down... IIRC
I thought it was 3rd and 9. I may be mistaken though.
for thinking a good qb will make his offense better. Although the same can be said for Muschamp too.
A good QB will make anyone's offense better.
Debord just starts from a substantially lower floor.
I would say a good QB, maybe even great, is a requirement for DeBord's offense. Its much harder to play QB when you're only allowed to throw the ball on third and long or when you're down double digits.
Apparently it's pronounced 'Shuck'... which... uhh... how?
Idk we should ask Brett Fah-Vree or anyone named Sio-ban that tells me their name is "Shovanne". Really any super Gaelic/Irish/Scottish name is gonna be fucked.
How does one spell "fish"?
Well, according to George Bernard Shaw: GHOTI
"gh" as in "tough"; "o" as in "women"; and "ti" as in "nation."
So fough anyone who doesn't like the way he pronounces his name.
Don't you just love the English language?
In that event, we have a case then where something IS spelled Raymond Luxury-Yacht but pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove, it seems. I can be down with that.
Now, all we need is someone who wears an obviously false polystyrene nose to make the sketch complete.
Don't know thing 1 about this kid but convinging a top flight kid to get in a long line is probably a tough task for this class. "Take a QB every class" is a saying I agree with. This year might be the perfect storm where high competition and a small class makes it a little painful.
Not trying to be a condescending to Tyler, he may well be a great Qb and Harbaugh can see what others cannot.
I didn't see a thread about it, has DTR officially committed to UCLA? He was trending that way, last I heard, and this seems to tell us where the staff thinks that recruitment is going if it's not actually official yet.
No, he hasn't committed to UCLA. He's visiting Michigan for the spring game next weekend, along with teammate Brevin Jordan.
But he did say he wanted to silent commit early for whatever that's worth.
So he could be a silent commit to UCLA and the M coaches know so they're expanding their board while still recruiting him.
He was also told he'd be the only QB in this class. So that also makes me believe he's not coming to A2.
In the DTR quote I saw, DTR said if he commits first Michigan will only take one QB, but if another guy commits they'll still have a spot for DTR.
So basically he'd be the only QB unless he's late or a flip (though with space limited I'd be really surprised if they ended up signing two regardless of who commits and when).
As long as we're using his initials, it should be DT-R. We can haz all the hyphens.
but this kid looks really good. Nice touch, vision, and accuracy.
like those old fashioned news reels? One of the tweets said he dropped a 'dime' on a 7 on 7, I'm assuming that's good? When I was a kid I don't think that was good...
You got it right he totally snitched on his WR on that play.
Is good
