Demetrius Hart Post-Bama Visit Update

Submitted by MGoShoe on
Demetrius Hart visited Alabama on Thursday and liked what he saw, but apparently it was not enough to make the Crimson Tide his leader.
"Oh it was a great day. We watched a scrimmage and had a meeting with Coach (Nick) Saban," texted Hart, who left for his Alabama visit with Auburn leading the way among teams pining for his services. "Everyone there was great and I had a blast with HaHa (Clinton-Dix). I may be converted. ... "Overall it was one of the best colleges, if not the best, I've been to. It's a nice area and campus .. great people and coaches." Asked then who is No. 1 choice is right now and he replied, "Don't have one."
The article then goes into Hart's planned visit to Michigan for the Spring Game and his relationship with Ricardo Miller.
"April 12, Michigan," Hart replied to what his next plans are. So he'll add another chapter with a trip to Ann Arbor, where he already has a good friend and former Dr. Phillips teammate Ricardo Miller on the Wolverines' roster. ... [Miller] was unable to coax friend and former teammate Kenny Shaw to join him this year, as Shaw stayed close to home and signed with Florida State. But don't think Hart won't hear the pitch, and Clinton-Dix will hear it as well. The future of Wolverines' coach Rich Rodriguez is a big concern for Michigan prospects. Not many recruits want to commit to a college with a coach in limbo. ... So the saga continues with Hart and HaHa's College Tour. They're having too much fun right now to make any commitments.

I know things changed and UM wasn't in his 3 any longer. However, it wasn't long ago our lead was so far no one could catch us. Shows you just need to wait to signing day to confirm a commit.

Sounds like Hart enjoys every school he visits...and honestly, why wouldn't he? I can only imagine the way he gets treated at all these places. Let's just hope we get his last visit, because it seems to me that being the last school to stick in his head might be a major boost

As soon as we win our first few games all these kids views will dramatically change, I wouldn't worry about anything until the season. These guys are just enjoying the experience now.

... he prefers Michigan. His mother is involved in the decision, too, and she'll want to pick a better academic school, in my humble opinion. Ergo, Michigan is the leader and best.

He should be here for the 17th. Florida Scout guy who has been consistent with MRob, DHart, Haha, Shaw, RMiller info has reaffirmed this. FWIW, anyway. WOTS is Miller's mother has spoken with Hart and family also, attempting to assuage any fears that have arisen as a result of the negative recruiting out there - which is why Hart's mother (iirc) is supposed to come up as well. Am guessing DB, RR, SA will get the opportunity to sit down with them and clear the air.

If Bama isn't the leader after the visit, there is no reason to believe that they will ever be on top. Unless his official to Bama is off the chart. The spring game is the best time to reel Hart back in.

Obviously good news that Alabama isn't listed as #1. Saban from what I've heard and read has been going after the Dr. Phillips kids hard. IMO, it is obvious from reading between the lines and even Hart's comments directly on the situation, that his heart is at Michigan. The Spring Game visit with his mom is crucial. That will be the staffs big chance to relieve concerns with her. If all goes well, I believe the only thing standing in the way, would be a complete implosion this season. Pretty much with all of our major targets this recruiting cycle, simply winning is the name of the game more so than ever. Lot of guys are interested, but taking the wait and see approach.

I agree...if Hart can take a visit to Bama without them becoming the front runner...i don't believe they ever will. With Richardson being the real deal, and only a sophmore, playing time may have played a role in him not putting Bama #1.
