Congrats to Bucky Badger - but this illustrates the flip side of the committee screwing someone
Somehow Wisconsin and Miami ended up on the same seed line. One just knocked off the #1 overall seed, the other looked like they belonged in the CBI last night. Strong work, Hollis.

Hey quick question for you...if Michigan fires Beilein like you're hoping for, who should they replace him with?
He's a quality coach, great weave, great screens. Players have enthusiasm
Do you even math, bro?
Odd event occurs today, the first time in 50 years. Person unaware of complexity deems modeld a failure. Thanks Obama/Trump.
F' you Hollis, f' you.
And don't forget, MSU is somehow worthy of a 9 seed...
Wisconsin (and Michigan and Wichita St and...) were UNDER-seeded.
But how does one game prove anything? That's just a snap judgement against Miami.
They may not have deserved their seed, but one game isn't the reason. That is such a short-sided comment.
Just like beating Villanova doesn't validate Wisconsin. No, what they did all year is the reason they should've been higher.
Using your same logic, should MSU been seeded higher? Because everyone on here was bitching about them not being a team in Dayton.
The seeding is terrible because of what teams did throughout the year...not the result of the game they played in the first round.
He's saying the tournament games are the PROOF, not the reason.
If event with P>. 05 occurs once, shit, math illiterates deem model a failure. Seriously. I agree seeds are stupid. But. . . Do you even math bro?
/might just be venting because my job is predicting health-care costs for insurance companies. Thanks Obama/Trump.

How hard is it to predict the salary of executives?

I see you have come out of your fire beilein winter hibernation.

Miami is 29th in the Massey Composite ranking system. Wisconsin is 24th. And that's after the Michigan State / Villanova games. There's not a whole lot of separation there. Miami just had a bad game and Wisconsin had a good one.
That's why I had Wisconsin beating Nova. Wisconsin should of never been a 8 seed I'm happy as hell but it felt dirty cheering for them that hard
I couldn't watch that game and NOT root for Wisconsin. The refs were so terrible. It's like they learn "Nova Nofoul" in ref school
Can anyone remember refs blatantly favoring a Big 10 school?
yeah, our loss against Minnesota this year
I'm talking about an OOL opponent? We've been screwed plenty in league play.
Replying to RockyTop here.
"should of" is not a phrase.
"should have". Da fuq? Who told you that"should of" is a phrase? Why did they harm you so? Did you not graduate middle school? Why???? (I'm irrationally angry about this.)
Fix yo'gramma.

Yo Da Fuq?
The Big Ten plays a more physical brand of basketball during conference play. The Big Ten refs let it slide more than other conferences. When Big Ten teams get to the tournament, they are no longer allowed to play that physical brand of basketball.
That part of the bracket suddenly turned into a snooze fest. Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin? WOOF
Who doesn't like 39-37 ballgames?
Virginia vs Wisconsin would be an aesthetic nightmare. A sub-40 winning score would be in play.
Meanwhile, anyone else ready for Duke to go to the Final Four? Wisco haters, in a Duke-Wisconsin Elite Eight game, do you root against someone or just skip it and go straight to boiling yourself in acid?
Duke is to basketball as Notre Dame is to football for me. They're the last teams I'd root for in those sports.
Hollis is a moron. Nuff said.
wisc played an awesome game. impressive how they overcame all the quick whistles to pull that one out.
They looked good. It always nice to do some transitive property exercises where I project how awesome Michigan is going to be since they beat "X" team. Or maybe I need to stop drinking.
March 19th, 2017 at 11:37 AM ^
Stop drinking? I don't understand.
Michigan beat them by 15 less than a week ago.
So, Michigan might be . . . pretty good?
According to Hollis, only two spots better than MSU in the same region.
I'll never give any congrats to Wisconsin basketball. They play an awful style. Plodding, slow, boring, hacking. Can't stand Wisc basketball. Plus I had Nova vs Michigan for the Championship Game.
played more brackets.Seriously, you are not alone. Good for Whisky though.
Yes, good for whiskey, but gooder for tequila.
you're right half of the time.
B1G represent!
Nice win over Nova. Hollis should stick to managing his Athletic Department. Seeding for Big 10 teams has been poorly thought out.
The idea that Hollis is flipping through individual B1G teams and personally choosing what bad places to put them, like Mr. Potter designating conscription designations on It's a Wonderful Life, is absurd. The whole committee works together and works from a set of rules that is necessarily very complex. Things happen the way they happen.
Now, was Wisconsin underseeded? Absolutely. Was Minnesota overseeded? The results speak for themselves. But it's not like Hollis or anyone else is just doing this to be spiteful.
Was Michigan underseeded? I hope Louisville fans are disgustedly saying so by about 2pm tomorrow afternoon.
Agreed. Life is not fair sometimes. In the grand spectrum of life, no one should really give a shit whether a team is under or over seeded by one or two lines.

alone is worth +1.
March 19th, 2017 at 10:06 AM ^
about Hollis. Seems like there's a certain core of M fans that are just determined to see a conspiracy against us at every hint of unfair treatment.
But no, results of one game in the tournament do not "speak for themselves". Sometimes upsets are known to happen, and between less well matched teams than Wisconsin and Villanova. 15 seed Middle Tennessee beating 2 seed Michigan State did not mean that Sparty got hosed by being matched with a grossly underseeded team.
Breaking news..... Hollis is not doing a very good job of running his athletic department.
I will laugh if NW somehow beats the Zags.
Mark Few isn't overrated like Jay Wright.
Wright 1 title few 0
Wright also coaches in a major conference with all of the recruiting benefits it entails. Wright has joined the Bill Self club of guys whose tournament resumes would get a lot more scrutiny if not for that one title.
Wisconsin is a veteran team. Definitely not a #8 seed. They controlled the game tempo and dominated inside, even with Happ and Koenig in foul trouble. This was a nice middle finger to the selection committee.
Also, I'm surrounded by Badger fans who hate Gard. So that's also a nice middle finger to Badger Nation who are clamoring for Bennett to come waltzing back to Madison.
I don't get how you can hate Gard. He has done a great job of picking off from where Ryan left em.
