Indiana has fired Tom Crean

I am going to miss the Tom Crean gifs; However I am glad Wagner took him out on the sidelines this year as a parting gift from the UM basketball team.

Tell me all about your leather-bound books...
^^ Custom made marble bidet - for a better fit.
a better tailor. It's all about the tailoring.
Are your shirts custom made to include a giant neck hole the size of two basketballs, allowing you to fit your giant head through them?
I think I saw you on TV.
Custom (made-to-measure) suits arent that expensive if you know where to look. Id go as far as to say that if you are someone who wears a suit everyday, it doesnt make sense not to invest in a few.
Men's Wearhouse or Jos A. Banks 3 for one deals are sweet.
Get one really nice suit for $500 and bang! You just got 3 tailored suits for $167.
How do adults not know this or already have fitting suits?

Say farewell to the Crean Machine....

YOU RUINED YOUR PROGRAM

Am glad.... that crap he pulled on Meyer, was, the worst... and not only grossly inappropriate, but childish, unsportsmanike, etc. Major tort, and now he got what he deserved.

Be let out of their LOI for baseketball? Indiana signee Clifton Moore would be perfect for our offense as a stretch power-forward. Similar to UM's current recruit Eli Brooks, he's from PA and can shoot it lights out. Also, Michigan was recruiting another one of their signees - Justin Smith but never offered. We have a spot open in our recruiting class and we're not getting Bamba.

Last season, B1G coach of the year, this year.......a zillow subscriber
Indiana was also B1G champions.
March 16th, 2017 at 12:42 PM ^
Smart move for IU, bad for the rest of the B1G.
Crean had a hard ceiling there, their 12-13 team was dripping with NBA talent and got bounced by the same Cuse team we beat in the Final 4.
That's still a very appealing job for many sitting P5 coaches.

It'll be interesting to see who they hire. They don't necessarily have to dip into the mid-majors to find a coach (although there are some attractive candidates there). They can probably pull from most of D1 schools.
March 16th, 2017 at 12:48 PM ^
Is it really though? Super high expectations. Tough league. Pitino and Calipari geographically close as well.
The right coach can succeed anywhere, but finding the right coach is difficult.
March 16th, 2017 at 12:54 PM ^
The coach will have almost unlimited resources at his disposal.
It makes a lot of sense if you think of Crean as Brady Hoke, and Kelvin Sampson as Rich Rod. Harbaugh still came even though there were super high expectations and Meyer and Danthony close by. It's a phenomenal job.
But who is Indiana basketball's Jim Harbaugh?
Jim Harbaugh wouldn't be at Michigan if it weren't for his lifelong love of Michigan. I mean if Harbaugh had gone to Stanford for college we might not even like him... To think that someone of Harbaugh's caliber would leave the NFL for Michigan without the deep personal and emotion connection that he has here is naive IMO.
The obvious answer is Brad Stevens, but I don't see any way they land him.
But they should land a good coach. Alford is a possibility (mistake in my opinion). There's Archie Miller. Greg Marshall. Chris Mack. They are a bit unlucky in that there isn't a Pitino on the market this year to fall into their lap, but they'll get someone good. The dream scenario would be Billy Donovan realizing that the job he signed up for at OKC isn't one he's going to enjoy anytime in the near future and taking a return to the college ranks.
would be #1 on their wishlist but I don't see him leaving Boston especially when they'll be in the playoff and the future is shaping up well for them with a bunch of assets at their disposal.
but isn't Alford that guy? Local legend, deep local roots, success out west.
It is. Indiana is a good basketball producing state, and there's national pull because it's Indiana. Yes, the Big Ten is a competitive league, but so is pretty much every big time league (maybe excluding the SEC). They also just redid all their facilities.
Finding the right coach isn't as easy as many seem to think.
However, Indiana is a good gig. Grand tradition and history, rabid fan base, great arena atmosphere, and fertile recruiting ground - both in Indiana and nearby Chicago.
Expectations are high there, but they have a history of putting up with shenanigans (see: Knight, Bobby).
I'm talking about behavior, not necessarily recruiting - Indy and their fanbase will put up with a lot as long as the team is winning (see: MSU).
A good hire would be great for the B1G, but will make things that much more challenging for Michigan. Personally, I like when the conference is strong.
Is there any good job that doesn't have high expectations and tough competition? That's what coaches live for.
Considering the Celts are locks for the NBA playoff and he has done a masterful job with the Celtics plus their future is bright aka shit ton of 1st round picks and assets.
It's not happening for IU

Now he can go be a consultant for staee.
March 16th, 2017 at 12:45 PM ^
FUCK ....... and I do mean FUCK Tom Cream! Fucking despise that guy
who took our jobs and stole all of our pensions?
March 16th, 2017 at 12:47 PM ^
Hope our Indiana pipeline of recruits doesn't dry up if they bring in a good coach and recruiter. Kind of liked Crean right where he was...
March 16th, 2017 at 12:47 PM ^
Speaking of Tom Crean, a friend of mine just messaged me with this news, along with the .gif of Wagner running him over. I chuckled, took a sip of my coffee, and before I knew it, three minutes had passed. I just kind of spaced out, mezmerized by the glorious event taking place on the screen.
'Later, Mr. Crean. You will be missed!
March 16th, 2017 at 12:48 PM ^
Tom for one reason and one reason only......the dude has some of the funniest and most entertaining facial expressions in the B1G, as you can see throughout this thread - TC you will be missed.
but I wish an opposing team's player would run into him while he's on the court and see what the refs do. Another option: pass him the ball. To his midsection if you're feeling charitable, at his head if you want to start a fight. I've been hit in the back of the head by a basketball on the court and it's humiliating.
