per espn about 10 minutes ago:

The Big Ten said they left the game time decision today up to Michigan. They were willing to move it, but the Wolverines wanted to play as soon as they got to DC. They asked for just an extra 20 minutes to 12:20 p.m. ET. Big Ten officials told ESPN that Illinois, Michigan State and Penn State (which play in the 2 p.m game) were all very agreeable and would have done anything to help out. Michigan officials said all of the equipment is in the cargo of the plane and cannot be retrieved until the safety investigation is complete (re: wearing practice uniforms

so hate on delaney all you want, but this one was apparently our choice.

No kidding, all he had to do yesterday is say we will not play the early game, accomodate us or we won't get on the plane.

Why are you upset at Warde (or anyone)?  This assumes that you know the team wanted to postpone the game.  Do you know that?  I'd be super pissed at Warde if I took a half day (or more) to go to this game and it was rescheduled.  I'd be even more pissed if I had a flight out tonight and needed to either miss the game or my flight because of a reschedule.  Please provide any evidence that anyone involved wanted the game rescheduled and Warde didn't fight hard enough.  I'm glad it was delayed to give the team 1.5 hours to warm up but still be played roughly on time. I think this was the perfect resolution to an unfortunate incident.

I didn't listen to Sam, do you have quotes or links?  I searched his twitter and one of the first results was a statement from Warde from last night that includes, "we anticipate being able to play Illinois at noon tomorrow" and "we've been in constant contact with the Big Ten Conference and appreciate their support and willingness to work with us"

This was after they booked flights for Thursday morning.

What the hell man... I listened to Sam this morning and he clearly said the team wanted to play. Plain and simple, he shot down any thought that the team needed any kind of delay. They in fact were saying something like bring it on anytime anywhere. He felt that the league, Delany should be able to get a delay in game time and at that time there was no delay but as of now it has been delayed 1hour 20 min.

So I believe that Manuel was trying to get a delay and got it. So lets just all calm down and if the team says anywhere any time so should we. It would be an empty threat to say anything like the team saying we will not play or any other type of threat because the team is ready to play anytime anywhere.

any evidence that says he did fight hard to get it rescheduled.  We don't know what happened, but what could've happened is to just say WE ARE NOT PLAYING AT NOON!  And force the hand of Delaney.  Warde Manuel is to blame.

No, he wasn't traveling with the team.  He was at the Verizon Center before the team got there (https://twitter.com/ksvoboda/status/839858210127417344).

And "pushing for the game to be later"?  It's really not that hard.  He should've come out yesterday and said the accident requires the team to move back its travel and we'll have to play the game later.  End of story.

At this point, he needs to come out and say that Michigan wanted the game moved, and is not happy with how they were treated by the conference.

I realize that this will piss out the folks at the Conference and that we need them.  However, they have been fucking us for about tean years now,   How much worse could it get?

Wouldn't it be great to bring Delany out to half court after we win the BTT and throw dozens upon dozens of pieces of rotted fruit, eggs, and corroded danishes at him. That would be the bees knees!

This ordeal...it made me wonder if Delaney is embarrassed at all. After everything that's happened...20 minutes.

But I remember how much he lobbied for OSU to play in the Sugar Bowl, despite all that cheating stuff that was already known at the time. Silly me for thinking this man could get embarrassed.

I blame our leadership for allowing these people to continue to sink their claws in us. No support after Harbaugh went after Gene Smith, no support for Harbaugh after the Columbus Screwjob or when Harbaugh got his fine, seemingly no fight today. Why are people being so ho-hum and quiet about him? What if Harbaugh grows tired of this? We the people need to keep a very close eye on our AD after our last permanent AD took a wrecking ball to the Football program.

There are 13 other teams they need to worry about too you know. We have no idea what Warde has done, and we don't know if he had a kicking and screaming rage behind closed doors. I'm sure he got his money's worth without taking it public.

you can't be pleased when it comes to an athletic director. Dave Brandon was brash and in your face "oh he's ruining the program. He is obsessed with the money!" Warde is behind the scenes, and not in your face "oh all he does is take it. We need someone to stick up for Michigan." You can please everybody some of the time. you can please some people all of the time. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

If DB was a competent leader, he would've stopped them from sticking us with at MSU two years in a row.

He was all talk. Was not in touch with the fans whatsoever.

I want Warde to be a great AD. He has done very little to me that gives me confidence in him.

Things keep piling up that suggest I'm right to feel this way. We'll see what happens when he makes a Hockey head coach hire in a month.

He's done one outstanding thing: change the mind of our M Tennis coach who took the ASU job and changed his mind and came back. That doesn't register with the fans who don't follow Tennis. They see the no night games and the fiascos with the B1G.
