OT - Frankenberry
With a lull before the Spring Game, I thought it would be a great time for some input into one of the deeper questions on breakfast cereals.
General Mills for years has made Count Chocula. You can find it at most stores at most times of the year.
They also make two other cereals, Boo Berry and Frankenberry. Unfortunately these two cereals are limited to the time around Halloween for their availability and are limited to where you can even find them. I know that Busch sells them, but you can't find these anywhere in Canada.
So the question is, which one is better? Count Chocula, Boo Berry or Frankenberry? My preference has always been Frankenberry?
Yes, your preference has always been Frankenberry.
I'm Ron Burgundy?
Count Chocula all the way baby!!!!!
How about Cocoa Pebbles, don't they get a say in this?
Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.
Why don't you trade that bullshit in for some Kellogg's cereal, traitor?

Indeed. Grandpa, two uncles (from both sides of the family), father, several friends, and me as a summer job when I was in college have worked/retired from/still work there. Can't say some of the management is too great, but they sure as heck make the best cereal around.
Are you serious with this cereal shit? Because if you are you would have to know that Cinnamon Toast Crunch is the G.O.A.T. when it come to cold cereals hands down.
I've been living in China for two years now and I am still going through cereal withdrawals. Every year my extended family would have a gift exchange for Christmas and every year without fail I would receive, along with a gift certificate to Best Buy, a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. There is not even proper milk over here let alone decent cereal. For breakfast the Chinese eat pretty much what they would eat for lunch. Noodles, lots of noodles. Sweet food isn't very popular over here, so a bowl of CTC would probably cause the average Chinese person to go into diabetic shock or go on a killing spree. I'm jonesin' for a fix..... If anybody could find it in their heart to send me a box of CMT I would give you the naming rights to my first born child. Seriously.
with chopsticks?
Gen Mills was going to make a cereal in honor of him but focus groups couldn't get past the cereal's name of Dingellberry.
you forgot Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute
March 31st, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
Wow, how did you remember that! Fruit Brute sorta kinda rings a bell, the other one, nope.
Never had any as a kid. My mom hated me so she made me eat Kix all the time (this was pre- Berry Berry Kix. Once they put that out... my mom switched it up, because they sold out.)
At any rate, while you're mentioning about availability of goods in one country and not in another.... Revlon's Outrageous shampoo... Can't find it anywhere in the US! I've only seen it in Canada.

I love Kix. Along with corn pops, crispix, apple cinnamon cherios, golden grams. Cereal is the shit. Especially when your stoned.
They have cereal in Canada I thought it was just Bacon? pshhh
And it would make a great tasting cereal.
...John Candy.

the limited time only "Just Berries" version of the Cruch Berry cereal....
Can I add the derogatory "Thats what she said..." response to my own post???

Gotta go with Count Chocula, but how can you pass up Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
March 31st, 2010 at 10:10 AM ^
Wheaties all the way. You have to start your day with a bowl of full grain wheat.
March 31st, 2010 at 10:27 AM ^
Anyone tried this new version of Wheaties?
I actually just bought a box and think it is a fantastic update of a classic. Definitely worth a shot.

Not the most popular, I know, but something about it just always lit my lamp. (Wut?)

Nothing beats a breakfast cereal resembling crumbled OSB infused with sugar. Eat a couple of bowls of that stuff and it's like a load of wood chips coursing through your colon, with the cleansing effect you'd expect.
Do they still make that? I never see when I go shopping. My mom had to hide the box from my and me because we would eat the whole thing in one sitting. Then we'd crack up because we'd have to take monster shits later.

that you do not have to stop loving cereal when you grow up. We commonly go through three boxes a week at the house and I mix it up pretty frequently. So as others see themselves as aficionados of wine, cigars, and other such luxuries, I'd like to think I know a thing or two about cereal.
With that being said, Frankenberry is a dentist's dream-- it's so loaded with sugar that after eating it for a solid week your teeth begin to legimitately hurt. Sure, that's called childhood, but Frankenberry just doesn't translate well to adult life. Still, it's got a very unique flavor that you just don't find in any other brand.
BooBerry was my favorite of three as a kid, just because I loved all things blueberry. It's got an okay taste, not as solid as Frankenberry, and on their own the non-marshmallow pieces are not as good as the other cereals. Plus the BooBerry character is kind of creepy but not in a Halloween way-- he's like some black-faced glowing sperm, and hey, that's just not my thing.
Count Chocula... yes, an old favorite, but as I've grown up I've found its chocolate flavor to be a very fake-tasting one. I guess it's just geared to a kid's palette-- excessive sugar+chocolate is a surefire recipe for any kid to get sent to his room, but it's worth the ride. I love chocolate-based cereals in general, so for me I'll pass over this for one of those.
And as far as I'm concerned, the best chocolate cereal-- hands down-- Cocoa Krispies. To quote the great Mitch Hedberg, "In Hollywood it's all about who you know, and I know Crackle!

I used to eat Cookie Crisp b/c of that gangsta the Cookie Crook. Then I figured it would be even MORE gangsta to just put whole chocolate chip cookies in a bowl and pour milk over it. So, now I'm totally GANGSTA and look like B.I.G., just white, and you know, alive.

I use to eat all those high sugar cereals. I miss all those wacky cereal commercials on Saturday morning from the late 60s and 70s, back when UM was a most excellent team.
Boo Berry was one of my favorites, also liked Crunch Berry, fruit loops, fruity pebbles, cocoa krispies, cocoa puffs, lucky charms, peanut butter crunch, Frankenberry, Count Chocula. Anything that made the milk taste better!.
Now that I'm older! I only eat old fashion oatmeal or total cereal, since I'm trying to keep my arteries from closing shut!
March 31st, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is the tops. But there are so many good cereals to mix it up with.
Seriously folks: Waffle Crisp. Holy fucking balls I could eat that shit forever.
March 31st, 2010 at 11:21 AM ^
eat Life or Cinnamon Life? You had to down the whole bowl in 45 seconds or else it would already be soggy.
March 31st, 2010 at 12:33 PM ^
You have to use less milk than usual when you eat Life, Chex, or Frosted Mini Wheats to keep the sogginess problem to a minimum. Either that, or split it into two bowls.
yeah, Life cereal blows. Frosted Mini Wheats has the same problem, and they make you have to take a huge crap like 5 min after you eat them.
Cinnamon Life is the shit. And having to eat it in 45 seconds? No way, it's at its best when soggy.
I pour up a bowl of Cinnamon Life and let it sit for a few minutes. Ahhhh.... soggy goodness.
March 31st, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
Between the three, I'm a Boo-Berry dude, but I rarely see it anymore. Lately, I like Smores, Frosted Mini Wheats, and Life.

Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds is the bee's knees!
Interesting fact: They first tried calling it Battle Creek Cereal because they made it in Battle Creek, MI.
EDIT: Oreo O's used to be the best before they discontinued it.

Colon Blow.
Quisp and Quake rocked!! My preference was Quisp!
Edit: I suck at this HTML-stuff, I even read ShockFX's thread on how to embed a jpg. So now you have to imagine two cereal boxes one with Quisp and one with Quake.
Reese's Puffs.
