OT: Michigan Cycling Team Kit Order
Hey all, there has been interest in these orders before, so the club has asked me let yall know that the most recent order is live. I am no longer part of the club since I graduated, but many friends are still part of the club so I can gladly pass along any questions to the appropriate party.
The Michigan Cycling team is a Club-sport who competes in the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference. Other teams in our conference include MSU, OSU, Notre Dame, Indiana, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Case Western, Louisville, Northwestern, Cincinatti, Marquette, Miami (NTM), and a bevy of other small schools. Our conference also features a few schools that consider cycling a varsity sport including Marian and Lindenwood.
The kit order is once again live and this year they're added a couple more options including a special edition "Great Lakes" jersey.
These are the same exact uniforms that the team will be racing in next spring.
More information about the team can be found here :http://www.umcycling.org/
Prices do tend to run a bit high, but such is the nature of being a small fish in the big pond of paying university royalties and the like. Any proceeds go towards helping get team member's to races and most importantly nationals.

Photos of the kits: The team's official racing kit is the blue one, but the alternates get worn regularly during training.

Anyone know how these fit? For example, the Jumpman football jerseys definitely were about a size small it seemed.
February 9th, 2017 at 9:22 AM ^
Shorts/long sleeve zip up jersey- about right., a little tight... so even jumping up a size is okay.
Short sleeve zip up jersey- tight. so even jumping up a size (OR 2) would be good.
Think cyclist, long and lean (especially upper torso)
If you are carring any weight around the middle... you might want to choose a darker color for the top and go up at least one size on the short-sleeve zip up jersey.

I got the short sleeve Great Lakes jersey, it's definitely small, you should go up one size.
It is also gorgeous and high quality and you should definitely buy it :D
I believe the sizing info on this page is accurate: https://www.primalwear.com/pages/fit-guide

Definitely a size small.
Google Primal... lots of evidence their stuff runs small.
I'm a L normally. Got the XL handprint jersey last year. LOVE IT!

Definitely order a size up from your usual on these. I have the blue from last year in a 2XL and am strongly considering the Great Lakes jersey.

Those are phat (as the kids say - do they still say this?)! I need to get off my ass and do a RAGBRAI - I would sport the Great Lakes jersey for sure.

I purchased the great lakes jersey when this was posted last fall and let me tell you I feel like a total badass whenever I wear it. Totally worth.

Not a cyclist but do a decent amount of running. How does it fit compared to normal everyday shirts? Would it make sense to get something like that to run in or not really? Love the design.
February 8th, 2017 at 10:02 PM ^
I wouldn't wear it running. Cyclists pretty much stay in the same position for the entire time, with minor movements every now and then, so the jerseys aren't meant to be jostling around constantly. The pockets in the back would be pointless since whatever's in there would probably bounce out, and it'd probably ride up pretty quickly, especially in the front where it's already short to begin with.
Edit to address your question about fit too:
They're "race cut" which means pretty much form fitting. I'm 6'0", 150 lbs (most of that weight is below the belt, because cyclist) and I have a medium which is just about right.

Appreciate the insight. Not really worth the risk then for the price. Too bad though. They look incredible.

I have the Maize race jersey medium and the heavyweight long sleeve shirt medium.
I'm 6'0" 175# (trying to get back to 168# after a bike accident and rehab from a complete AC separation), long torso, long arms, and the mediums fit me perfectly, but I like my cycling clothes to fit pretty tight (no wind flapping when I'm out with the crew).
I really like the Maize as its pretty high visibility and I'm often riding on the hills on two lane roads. These are very sharp, I get lots of positive comments from them. High quality.
I agree I would never wear them running as what I'm looking for in a running shirt is different, no elastic, no rubber seams, slightly looser fit, less zipper than you'd find on this shirt. I think these would be uncomfortable for that purpose.
Like them enough that I just ordered the Great Lakes jersey and arm warmers. Have not tried the bibs or shorts as "full kit" is too flashy for me if I'm not on the "team," so cannot comment further.

lol someone really liked those fan mock-up football jerseys from a few years ago.
I knew I'd see that third alternate before.

It should be a VARSITY sport, cycling kicks @ss and I was a kick@ss cyclist back in the day, still ride now and then.
February 9th, 2017 at 6:48 AM ^
that should be varsity sports. But because of equality, men get the short end of the stick.

He's just saying that if men's cycling was a varsity sport, it would require opening up a commensurate number of women's aid-in-kind. If there's not a demand from one side, the other side loses an opportunity -- because people don't look at all the circumstances surrounding a situation, just quotas.
February 9th, 2017 at 4:13 PM ^
was a great cycling club back in the day sending riders to the olympics and european professional road circuit including Frankie Andreau
If cycling were elevated to a varsity sport in US universities, the US would produce many more competitive cyclists. Today it's the same as it ever was, not much if any support.

These all look seriously great. Probably won't be able to purchase before the store closes, but if I have cash... I would be paralyzed trying to decide which one to buy, honestly. All three of them are awesome.

The all blue bibs would look better with the great lakes kit.
And for your question below, I can't find a picture of anyone wearing the jersey but I'll keep looking and get back to you if I do
February 10th, 2017 at 11:43 AM ^
Assume the blues and maizes will match between the Great Lakes top and blue bibs, even though they look slightly different in the mock-up? Minor detail, but you know how cycling is...if I drop the coin for a full kit definitely want it to be perfect!
February 16th, 2017 at 5:35 PM ^
Yep, they match up perfectly.
February 9th, 2017 at 9:13 AM ^
I bought the arm warmers in the last order. I wear them even when it's 80+ degrees.
February 9th, 2017 at 11:33 AM ^
Fits nice - long & lean style - looks great. Thanks

I was just looking around for a Michigan cycling jersey, this popped up in a Google image search, and DAMN I wish I wouldn't have missed this. That third jersey is sweet.
