Show me the players on this team (other than Walton) who can consistently drive to the lane?  Beilein recruited guys like Burke and Stauskas in part because he wants guys who can slash and score off the ball.  His best WVU offenses had that element.  But until recently Walton couldn't/wouldn't drive to the hoop and create offense, and Irvin has fallen off the map these past couple of games.

I know people act like Beilein doesn't understand basic basketball fundamentals, but this is a still a top-15 offense even with terrible parts at key spots.

Exactly.

Someone point to a time this season where JB went outside his base offense and took advantage of a mismatch.

The guy is the biggest fraud when it comes to X's and O's.  He's a fraud when it comes to recruiting.  He's a fraud when he says they focus on defense.

MAAR hasn't been able to generate any consistent offense for weeks now.  He scored 12 in this game but also had 2 turnovers and generally struggled to get his shot.  And Wagner was limited all game and I think people are overrating his handle because sometimes he can get a step on a slower big.  Going into this game, he averaged about 3 TOs a game for the past half-dozen games and only foul trouble and a lack of involvement in the offense this game changed that.

They should've done it 3 years ago. No point now.

Current students don't even show up themselves. Back my freshman-junior years (2013-2015) you had to get to the game 1.5 hours early to make it into maize rage, an hour early for Section 130.

Now you can show up late and still make it maize rage. Nobody cares anymore.

And people thought I was crazy that I wanted him gone two years ago. Nice guy but awful at recruiting and his teams can't win without talent. Where are all the Coach B fans now?

the team is way too reliant on threes, and doesn't have the bigs to defend and rebound on a top team inside (heck, apparently any team), much less someone to take the ball into the paint and score.

Beilien's either boxed in by his own system reputation in recruiting or unwilling to change ... so the situation won't change without a change.

I'll never forget against Lousiville when the game was getting away at the end and Beilein stood there doing his little mouth maneuver not knowing what to do. This is such a stupid offense. I've thought that ever since Burke left. Even Stauskas couldn't do shit in it quite often. You need muscle and big guys that can score and rebound inside. You cant live and die by the three. Duke has been doing that for years with their great recruiting classes. How many titles do they have to show for it? Not many. Beilein has checked out. He knows he's gone. Michigan could have such good players but noooooo, don't want guys that are going to jump to the NBA  too soon. Yeah because that is the way the football team does it right? Get him out of there.

They absolutely missed on some players, but sometimes you have bad classes.  What is killing them is they lost a couple of recruits from last class that looks solid now.  Winston and Langford on this club, I think we are seeing a better overall performance on the court.

At this point, I'd also hope the team would bench Irvin and bring Simpson off, move Walton to SG, and let Robinson, Wilson, and Wagner give it a shot.

Sure, but for the future guys like Winston and Langford are solid.  And I'd argue UM at 6-4 in conference is looking quite a bit better.

Guys miss out on good players all the time in recruiting.  Even the best coaches in America miss out on the vast majority of guys they go after, and I think we all sort of figured Blueitt would be solid and it sucked to lose out on him.  But Michigan recoverd by picking up a higher-rated guy at the same spot in Chatman who just didn't work out.  Sumner was a solid PG but (a) the team already had Walton and Spike, and (b) it honestly seemed like Sumner was just hell-bent on going to Xavier since he basically visited and then committed with no other real competition.  Sometimes that happens.

Again, we can cycle through every miss for Beilein but I could find you similar misses with any coach.  The problem is that the two seniors on this team (until recently with Walton) never played like the players they were expected to be, so now it's a team without an offensive leader and some depth issues because that 2015 class was a huge miss.
