PWO Jared Davis from Frankenmuth

Submitted by Imjesayin on

Earlier this week Michigan picked up Jared Davis as a Preferred Walk On from my hometown, and new football hotbed, Frankenmuth!

Frankenmuth is of course known for anything but football, which is why it's interesting that he'll be the 2nd current UM football player from Frankenmuth, a town of 4,898 people. He joins his "role model" and current walk-on Nick Volk, a 5'11" 250 fullback and also a former Frankenmuth QB. That means Frankenmuth has a higher per-capita representation on the roster then any other city except Bloomfield Hills.

"Davis played quarterback and defensive back for the Eagles, leading Frankenmuth to the Division 5 semifinals. He completed 62 of 110 passes for 1,225 yards and 13 touchdowns, adding 966 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

He is expected to play defensive back for the Wolverines. At Frankenmuth, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior had 70 tackles, four interceptions and nine pass deflections."

It also says he runs a 4.7 second 40, which gets 3 fakes out of 5.

I love Frankenmuth Bavarian so much.

They re-did the pools there, apparently. Now they have large water slides in the room where the wave pool used to be.

AND THE CHICKEN........

If you didn't see the sign out front, you'd never know whether you were in Zehnders or the Bavarian Inn from the standpoint of food.  It's all the same stuff.   A couple times in Frankenmuth is enough for me personally.  It's one of those places once you've seen it once, you don't need to see it again.

I will say that there is something to be said for sitting in the Rathskeller in the basement of the Bavarian Inn downing Hofbrauhaus and pretending that the kids won't come back in ten minutes wanting to break another $20 bill because, damnit, those last 500 points before the mostly useless toy is theirs. It's mostly about beer and trying not to have TOO much family time that second day.

childhood memory ever... Forced to eat that awful chicken despite it tasting "off"... Up from Toledo, parents thought it would be a great idea to go to the Mackinac Bridge... Fast forward a few miles down the road... Feeling like shit... And then actually SHITTING for the next couple hours probably every 10 miles or so... Interspersed with vomiting WHILE shitting... But none of that stopped MY parents...oh no. Seriously - F that chicken.

Never experienced that one.

I thought that Black Forest was decent and the food was good for a while, but they recently sold their brewing equipment and their food has gone down hill. I think a lot of the beer drinkers who visit Frankenmuth probably aim for the German imports as opposed to craft beer, it just would be nice to have another option.

I'm from Frankenmuth too. Class of '88. Wonder if we have more guys per capita on this board from 'Muth than other towns. Thanks for the info...Go Eagles and Go Blue.

I actually quit football after JV. We had pretty good class. I sat on the bench. But yeah, '88 was cool. They made it to class B semis...even though we were literally only a handful of kids over enrollment from bring a class C school. Nice to see a fellow TVCer on here!
