Why?
[ED-Seth: Hi, I'm hijacking the first comment here to explain]
It was causing massive server loads.

The secret plan to eliminate problems with an overloaded webserver on signing day has begun.
January 31st, 2017 at 5:54 PM ^
Personally, I wouldn't mind that, if it means the site doesn't crash every time there is a commitment.
Combined with the fact that Brian wasn't seeing a dime from those views, if half of them never view the site again, and the other half view it on a revenue generating platform, it would be a net positive for him.

Because every damn one of us touches ourselves at night.

You'll never believe what I was doing as I was reading your comment.

for this????

Another fucking EO... all progress is being rolled back.

I can completely appreciate where Brian is coming from on this, but I think even he would admit that it probably wasn't handled in the best possible way. In situations like this communication is the key. I, for one, had NO IDEA the HD app was not supported by MGoBlog. I always wondered why the 'old shitty app' was still an option in ITunes. I used the HD app enough that I would gladly pay a monthly fee to have it. Disappointing that this wasn't handled better. I think if the situation was explained and the users were given options that pay for the content through the HD app, most people would have gladly stepped up and paid to use it. Too bad. Hopefully something can be worked out because the other 'real app' hurts my eyes. Oh well, 1st world problems. GO BLUE!!!

I have to say, I liked the HD version better. Had far more options to customize how you could view the site. Like seeing the message board first vs. seeing the selection screen. It also had better link options within posts, and images/posts were easier to read and interact with.

Which version did you like better?

Good conclusion, glad that's settled.

I've been around here for years, this is the first time I've prompted a piece of front page content. Hopefully this doesn't mean I've punched my ticket to Bolivia...... :(

Happy trails. I've been there and you CAN fight your way back.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:20 PM ^
Sorry, champ. It's inevitable.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:00 PM ^
My hope is that this will not prevent otherwise barred users from posting exclusively on the app. I love the "Garfield Minus Garfield" effect of the unbarred users' responses to the barred users.
When Ronny Kaye be trolling, the unintentional comedy be rolling.

That was one of my favorite parts. Nothing like posting a comment on the app, having a shadow banned person reply to it, reply to their comment and then check back later on mobile or desktop and see that it looks like you were debating yourself.
January 31st, 2017 at 8:41 PM ^
I did the same exact thing today with none other than Ronnie the rat.

The 'official' app's design is awful. I will miss HD. Feel like I'm using the web back in the 1990's with the 'official' app. Can it be made more visually appealing?
January 31st, 2017 at 4:26 PM ^
Agree 100% The MGoBlog HD was nicer and faster.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:02 PM ^
I would use it if it wouldn't crash every time I tried. Seriously, just re-downloaded it because the HD app is gone and it crashes before anything can load.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
the only app that was actualy funtional is no more?
WTF?
No offense to the original developers, but I had been using the old Mgo app since day 1, until it got so awful I just stopped a while ago.
The HD app worked SO much better I started MGo-ing on my phone again for the 1st time in months.
Oops, sorry, gave a shit & started concern-trolling again, my bad.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:10 PM ^
I re-downloaded the bad app and it seems to be working now.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:03 PM ^
I'd be happy to use the "blessed" app -- if it worked. Every time I try to view something, it crashes.
Yes I am using the latest version.
I understand the need to support your ad model, but if the app don't work... hard to consume!
January 31st, 2017 at 4:04 PM ^
I have to concur with the general sentiment that the HD version was 100 times better than the original version. In fact, I just downloaded the regular version and it's crashed twice on me in 5 minutes.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:31 PM ^
Yep. It wouldn't even allow me to sign in.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:42 PM ^
which is that the HD version is 1 million times better.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:05 PM ^
Welp, looks like I'm skipping tomorrow on here. 502 errors already with the flood of people that use the app exclusively.
Tomorrow the hamsters will die
January 31st, 2017 at 4:07 PM ^
The app keeps crashing on me as well.
I second the notion to hire whoever made the HD app. The original just is not functional.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:07 PM ^
The "classic" app is barely functional on iPhone. At least now it will work some of the time, which is an improvement over the past month or so when it showed nothing at all (other than the ad at the bottom of the page ldo)
January 31st, 2017 at 4:08 PM ^
The Elaydin App is broke according to Apple. The HD on my iPhone still works. I think the link is to the wrong App.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:09 PM ^
Am I missing something? Seems to be working fine on my iPhone.

(Raises hand, points to self)
Another person who:
- Vastly prefers the look and feel of the HD app
- Just re-downloaded and tried to use the official app for the first time in a long time and it crashed
I'm sensitive to the stated reasons. I'd gladly chip in another $10 of beveled guilt for right to use the HD app.
Thanks, Brian
January 31st, 2017 at 4:15 PM ^
the HD app is awesome. Please keep
January 31st, 2017 at 4:16 PM ^
Agreed. I'd rather pay a few bucks for the functional, better, app.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:29 PM ^
unfortunately, the HD app is much better.
January 31st, 2017 at 4:10 PM ^
It is honestly bizarre how MGoBlog can simultaneously be so good at providing incredible content and be so bad at designing a pleasing user experience.
