He labeled it OT, don't be a douche
January 27th, 2017 at 1:52 PM ^
I know it... just grumpy. Beer Grotto has best of the midwest tap takeover tonight and I can't get a sitter for my kids... <sad face>
January 27th, 2017 at 3:47 PM ^
Love it. That and a little whisky on the gums and problem solved! Except until the next day when CPS is at my door.. hahhaha
January 27th, 2017 at 5:31 PM ^
...then it didn't happen.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:22 PM ^
he also labeled it amazing. I'm not amazed.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:52 PM ^
somehow

The volume of unfunny people on this board who want to be funny is astounding.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
Coming from possibly the biggest douchebag on the site, that really means something... how is it you haven't been sent packing yet?

though i actually wasn't disagreeing with your snark and thought it was okay. maybe save that remark for when i do a better job of earning it.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:28 PM ^
Not you, XM... that was a reply to Ronnie Kaye, who, I have to assume, has been banned bc he only shows up on the app.
You are one of the good ones - sorry for the confusion.

i'm like the contestant in a beauty contest who thinks they've won but then the MC walks past them and hands the crown to the next in line.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:20 PM ^
What a massive fucking loser. His mom gave me this pic of him when I left her house after the fine handy the other day. First time he's been outside and away from his keyboard in months.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:31 PM ^
He was responding to a banned poster on the app. Pretty funny misunderstanding though.
January 27th, 2017 at 9:30 PM ^
Right? Very impressed with XM's restraint - I would have teed off in my response. Glad we got that resolved.

i actually know a few of the posters and a number of 'lurkers' and they are good folks. i would be interested in meeting any number of you all in general. i have a feeling that even the overly abrasive ones aren't so bad in real life.
incidentally, i didn't neg you and i'd be curious who did and why. another mgoblog mystery.

I sure hope bluinohio weighs in with his views on the Williams sisters.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:44 PM ^
Pulling for Fed - would love to see him snag one more.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:07 PM ^
Same here but either way I'm just so glad to see this match up again

Fed needs this one so he can retire peacefully in the mountains.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:50 PM ^
It's crazy how they can keep up this level of play. Everyone keeps waiting for the changing of the guard and the vets keep hanging around.
I'd love to see Fed get one more but I don't think he quite has the legs at his point in his career to survive two full weeks in a Grand Slam. He tends to wear down in the last couple of rounds. OTOH, I thought Nadal's body was pretty much broken down by now, too.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:13 PM ^
Their age and toll on their bodies reminds me of Agassi's story in his book about his match at the US Open Vs Baghdatis and how his body was destroyed.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:54 PM ^
It's going to be a couple of long nights for me staying up watching these matches.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:54 PM ^
For both of the finals. I will make sure to set my alarm at 5 to watch the latter half of both matches.
It's been a very wild tournament. The top two guys were swept away very early in the tournament.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:27 PM ^
Yeah, Andy's loss was annoying because I like him, but Novak is kind of a dickhead and I was happy to see his ass get bounced early. I loved that for so long he could not win Roland-Garros, but he finally got it last year...the bastard.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:32 PM ^
Dickhead, but he's completely different than he was five years ago. His interviews after losing have been nothing but complete class and he doesn't whine at all about things.
Back then yeah, but I don't see that out of him anymore.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:36 PM ^
I think he's an interesting guy. He speaks like six languages.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:43 PM ^
Are incredibly well-versed in other languages since they do so much international travel. I think Federer speaks 4 or 5 languages also.
Same with a lot of the FIFA refs. Those guys speak a TON because they have to communicate to all different groups.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:06 PM ^
I've long felt Novak had a more likable personality than Murray, myself. But neither compare to Fed.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:54 PM ^
in the men's finals. I guess that leaves me hoping for a long competitive match.
January 27th, 2017 at 12:56 PM ^
Venus had the easiest draw I have seen
In years but it's Great to see her in Final again.

I haven't got to watch any of this tournament. How is Rafa playing? Does he look like his old self?

January 27th, 2017 at 1:20 PM ^
I think this is awesome, but is it getting to a point where we should wonder if they're doing it clean? To be world-class in your mid-30s is nuts. (In Nadal's case he's not quite that old, but he's pretty much wrecked his body in past years.)
January 27th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
but the blood they're using comes straight from genetically engineered, 15 yr old virgins.
So, yeah.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:53 PM ^
I can point to plenty of tennis players that had late-career pushes in their 30s.
They better essentially test everyone in the NHL, because some of those guys are ageless.
January 27th, 2017 at 2:36 PM ^
Federer is so smooth and looks so effortless that he can probably play until he's 40. Nadal on the other hand looked like he could break down too young with his style of play. If anything I'm surprised they don't have arthritis or carpal tunnel from the repetitive motion of flipping back their hair or pulling wedgies

Few things truly surprise me anymore, but that would shock me. Fed in particular has been pretty outspoken about cheating in any fashion. I think they caught lightning in a bottle to BOTH get this far. That being said, it could be an epic final with 2 of the GOAT in tennis history.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:24 PM ^
I am upset to have missed the two men's semifinal matches. I forgot to record Roger's match. I actually did record Rafael's match, but forgot to turn my iPhone on do not disturb mode. My ESPN alert popped on my screen when it was sitting on my desk and naturally I looked at it, only to see that Rafael won. Both semifinals went five sets...very upset I missed them. I will certainly be watching the final, though.
January 27th, 2017 at 3:33 PM ^
FYI, on the "watch ESPN" app or the watch ESPN website you can see replays of any match. I usually watch them there in the morning while avoiding spoilers…

I would never have time because of work. The Nadal match went FIVE hours. Crazy.
Plus, going to anything ESPN-related, even if it is just Watch ESPN, I'm sure I would see the result somewhere.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
Old School. Pulling for Venus and Fed.
January 27th, 2017 at 1:50 PM ^
Never thought we'd see Federer and Nadal again. So pumped
January 27th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
that we have had this topic open for almost 2 hours and we haven't had somebody say WEIRD THAT THEY HAVE TWO MENS FINALS THIS YEAR, or something along those lines. I never understood the hate a lot of folks have for the Williams sisters. They seem like a great american success story, and also seem pretty darn likeable to me.
Way to go mgoblog community, I guess?
January 27th, 2017 at 2:58 PM ^
I'm pulling for Venus and Nadal. Both of those would be great comeback stories. Serena has owned her sister since the early years. And Nadal's body has been a disaster the last few years. Federer has all his records already.
January 27th, 2017 at 5:03 PM ^
I will certainly be waking up at 3:30 on Sunday. Vamos RAFA!
January 27th, 2017 at 7:06 PM ^
I'm sure Nadal and Serena will win, so I won't bother setting my alarm
January 27th, 2017 at 7:56 PM ^
I haven't gotten a chance to watch this year...kind of sad. Looking forward to watching these matches and the Bryan brothers too!
