The NCAA won't even care about this because it is not infringing on the SEC recruiting grounds. Now if Bama starts suddenly pulling kids out of Italy, look for some rule changes coming.

I still wish we were doing it in the South one last time. or buying land somewhere don there so it technically wouldn't even be using another team's facility.

What if Mr. Ross dedicated some small piece of ownership of the Dolphins' training facility to Michigan athletics.  Not every school has an NFL franchise owner.

Could the team not practice in Florida?

I said this as a joke, but for someone whom has already given over 300 million to Michigan, including a lot of dollars to the athletic department, it is not as far fetched as one might think.

Not even going to Rome during spring break, but after finals. I know the new rule banning spring break trips isn't going into effect yet anyway, but I wonder if this trip would also be banned in the future under the new rule

The players and staff will use three of the allotted 15 spring football practices in Rome, training at AS Roma, the professional Italian football (soccer) club in the city.

The experience will culminate with a youth clinic, and the team will play a scrimmage that will be open to the Italian public.

SPRING PRACTICE IN ANN ARBOR: The Wolverines will hold a free, open-to-the-public spring football practice on Saturday, April 15, at Michigan Stadium. The details for the day will be set and announced in the future.

Exactly, this says nothing about the spring game. "SPRING PRACTICE IN ANN ARBOR: The Wolverines will hold a free, open-to-the-public spring football practice on Saturday, April 15, at Michigan Stadium."

They held an open practice at Ford Field last year on a Saturday. It very well could be the spring game, but this is not definitive.

It specifically lists a scrimmage in Rome though. I would not put it past Harbaugh to get a deal with ESPN to broadcast that as the spring game from Italy. Good program exposure. This is me just speculating, but the wording is odd.

There's no way either of those networks springs to broadcast a scrimmage from Rome.  That's a major league expensive undertaking that they wouldn't come close to making a profit on.  ESPN and FOX skimp out on sending crews to lower tier events all the time.  And those are the ones they are obligated to broadcast (like the Cal-Hawaii game in Australia to open the season).

Now send a reporter and hire a crew?  Ehh....maybe.

ESPN has wolrdwide broadcasting network, no need to send US reporter to Italy. Anyway, i supposed srping game is on BTN, though. maybe like the basketball, hire two student commentor to do the job, adding italian commentor this time?

THIS is brilliant:

If the NCAA blocks this in the future, they will be taking something away from orphans and military personnel.
