Individual Situation.

Nick Satan and all the cheating Tide and $EC mofos.
That is all.
(Well - my pain meds from broken foot are kicking in again so THAT is all now. Until 10pm that is.)
January 9th, 2017 at 6:35 PM ^
I just had this thought - why do they play this game on a Monday night? Wouldn't it so much better on a Saturday night?
January 9th, 2017 at 6:40 PM ^
I was wondering the same. You'd think it would attract more viewers on a weekend. Surely they could work it out with the NFL to have an open timeslot.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:21 PM ^
think (though I could be wrong), ratings are determined by how many households/individuals watch specific timed intervals during the game. If you take both east and west coast, no question more people would watch the whole game on a weekend, but more people than that will watch a portion of it tonight.
January 9th, 2017 at 8:17 PM ^
Well, the Super Bowl and Game 7 of the NBA Finals are on Sunday evenings. That gives us a good idea of the most lucrative timeslot in the week for televised sports.
For college football, the question is Saturday vs. Monday, since they won't play Sunday. I would think Saturday would do better. I'm not convinced the CFP braintrust is sound in its judgment on this; these guys have scheduled semifinals on New Year's Eve, after all.
(And of course there's the issue of the players on both teams missing class today and probably tomorrow because of this game.)
January 9th, 2017 at 8:29 PM ^
What about Friday night?
January 9th, 2017 at 8:42 PM ^
Friday is better than Monday in terms of allowing people to stay up late, but you still have the problem (as with all weekdays) that a lot of people on the West Coast might still be at work, or leaving it, when the game starts. Saturday avoids that.
January 9th, 2017 at 8:44 PM ^
Yup. If they won't play it on Saturday night, which is the best idea, then play it on Friday night, which is the second best day to do it. I just don't understand the obsession the NCAA has with Monday night title games for football and basketball.
January 9th, 2017 at 8:41 PM ^
Or the NCAA could, for once, say "fuck the shitty, overrated as hell NFL," and play their title game on Saturday night. The NFL wild card round is almost always dog shit. I can guarantee everyone that more people would prefer to watch the NCAA title game instead of awful NFL round one games.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:41 PM ^
And what's the deal with airlines and peanuts???
January 9th, 2017 at 7:00 PM ^
I've wondered the same and have assumed it's because they don't want to compete with the NFL Playoffs.
At the same time, I'm sure as hell not staying up for a game in which I want neither team to win. If it was a Wednesday or Thursday, probably. But I'm not making myself tired all week for this game.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:07 PM ^
It would be. If there was a petition - I'd sign it.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:36 PM ^
I hope Saban's head explodes mid-game, Scanners style
January 9th, 2017 at 6:38 PM ^
I'm amazed this went up at a very reasonable time - props to the OP. Back in the day, this would have gone up as the "Official College Football National Championship Thread" at about 7:30 a.m. this morning!
Pinching my nose and pulling for Clemson.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:40 PM ^
I'm firmly on the side of the incoming meteorite strike.
Also, I think that I want Clemson to lose. An Alabama win doesn't really increase their ability to recruit substantially, but a Clemson win could give them a big leg up.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:01 PM ^
I'd like a game that makes the M00N look like a work of art. One that makes Michigan - Iowa 2016 look like a masterpiece. I'd love for it to be a sludgefest.
And I'd like the game to be decided on a bad call. Nay, a series of horrendous calls, where on the final series players are held without flags, a fourth and one is called on an egregious spot, and the game is won by Clemson on a catch that clearly was a bobble then a drop.
And after all the noncalls, I'd like the announcers and the ref to say after the game that "they wanted to let the players decide the game, not the officals." Because, you know, letting players hold and so forth is "letting the players decide the game".
And afterward, I want it to come out that the ref used be Swinney's childhood best friend and that he owes Swinney money.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:53 PM ^
But no matter how ugly, in the long run it just becomes remembered by most people as a championship. Only hardcore fans of the losing team (or rivals) will remember the officiating.
How many people still remember that OSU won the 2002 national title after a ref made a really late, questionable pass interference call flag on 4th down in overtime to keep their drive alive?
January 9th, 2017 at 8:36 PM ^
And every single Miami fan.
I want the calls to be so bad, it makes the 2016 edition of The Game look equitable.
January 9th, 2017 at 8:02 PM ^
It takes one sick bastard to hope for that, and after reading your twisted fantasy, I also want to see that.
January 9th, 2017 at 8:00 PM ^
I think Clemson will get a bump by being at the Championship game in back2back years regardless. If they beat Alabama, it will hurt Alambama more. Saban is selling winning championships, and if he doesn't win with all the talent they have, then that opens the doors for others.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:40 PM ^
I've enjoyed watching the coaches comment on the game back when Speilman would host it. I may check it out for a little bit this year - as long as Mack Brown isn't leading the coversation with the coaches from around the country.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:41 PM ^
It would be great to see them knock off Satan (oops I mean Saban).
January 9th, 2017 at 6:42 PM ^
Can't wait until we're involved in these

R.I.P.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:43 PM ^
I was going to say "Clemson bout to get in that ass!"
...then I realized, that probably doesn't work for the Tigers anymore.
Nonetheless, I got Clemson in this one. I think they bottle of Jalen Hurts and I don't trust Sark whatsoever.
Clemson 20
Alabama 13

That can mean only one thing. The OCHO lives!

Kinda sad this is the last open thread for a college football game for a long time. The long off seasons is upon us...Crap.

WTF is that on top of Derrick Henry's head?!
He must've discovered that '97 Badu album.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:04 PM ^
I can't post here because this isn't the official CFP Championship Mgoblog thread.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:13 PM ^
I just made it the official thread by knockout.
I'll leave to the OP to actually label it the "official" thread though so as to creat maximum confusion, mainly because I am in my element when there is confusion.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:24 PM ^
Well then. You've hereby created a problem for me. I'm locked into my comment about this not being the official thread by your deletion of the other. So I'd like to take this moment to say I love this thread and may it live forever!
January 9th, 2017 at 7:12 PM ^
Well that was fun while it lasted....
You guys are hilarious and awesome.
Now it's time for Bama to lose.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:16 PM ^
WHOA!!! Anyone see how many patches are on Watson's jersey?! He looks like he's wearing a NASCAR jacket.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:26 PM ^
Hate to be a complainer but...
I really dont want to use the computer during the game. I wish the app was working. Using the site on my phone is so annoying.
Just shows how valuable that app is. We all kind of take it for granted.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:26 PM ^
He slammed that pen down with AUTHORITY!
January 9th, 2017 at 7:32 PM ^
Drinking early?
January 9th, 2017 at 7:42 PM ^
I am, but I don't understand...did you miss Eddie Jackson slam the pen?
January 9th, 2017 at 7:50 PM ^
Yes was making drinks over here
January 9th, 2017 at 7:39 PM ^
This is one of those games that you root for the lesser of two evils.
They are both the same Evil in my book , so i wont watch since I dont want either to win .
January 9th, 2017 at 7:39 PM ^
I honestly don't think I'm going to even watch it, although I hope Clemson can beat the Alabama fightin Alabamans.
I've been replaying Final Fantasy 7 for the first time in many years and I'm having tons of fun with it. Probably going to do that instead.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:41 PM ^
I want a shiny silver jumpman on our jerseys. That'll mean we're in this thing.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:41 PM ^
Clemson or Bama took advantage of the game and brought recruits to the game? I read some shit about that shit.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:51 PM ^
Get comfortable, folks.
Just saw 52:00 left on the clock.
Gonna be a looooooooootta talking for the next hour.
