I'm not an "expert" but you could be speaking of the wrong sport
that not once this past season did I think:
"I wish that Mallett was our starting QB."
I'm trying to envision him leaping over those IU defenders in the endzone or juking that ND D-lineman out of his jockstrap for that 4th down TD using his brontosaurus-like quickness and agility. Mallett, the one that got away...
I was referring to how after sitting through football season watching Mallett play well, watching a player like Udoh who could have helped out our basketball team also was not fun.
Are you actually suggesting that Michigan would have done better with Mallett than with Forcier/Robinson?
They may actually have done better with a third year player who may have stopped turning over the damn ball, but it probably wouldn't have helped in the long run.
But at what expense?
Having true freshmen play QB certainly wasn't ideal, but we did NOT want to go through another season with a Pro Style QB trying to lead a spread offense.
Hence the part about it not helping in the long run.
We agree that Mallett playing QB last year would have hurt Michigan in the long run.
But we disagree on what would have happened in the hypothetical scenario where Mallett was the QB?
Sound right?
Correct, I thInk Mallett may have played better last season than Freshman Tate Forcier.

My original point was that I find it ridiculous that the OP was suggesting that Michigan would have been better off with Mallett last year. I'm not saying that Mallett wouldn't have been successful, but I am saying that there is nothing substantial to suggest that he would have, other than him being an upperclassman. Additionally, as we agree, Michigan would have been worse off in the long run. I choose not to live in a hypothetical world.

I'm not sure how many, but it's obvious they don't get along with one another.......
But my take is that kids need to go where ever they feel they can improve. If he felt that his best chance was a Baylor - more power to him.
And I would not want him at Michigan.
Too bad about the loss of his talent, we could have used it.
But, let's not start beating ourselves up about this.

I dont want to sit here and try to predict this season before it occurs. Lets just focus on the players we do have, and less on the ones that chose to move on. Go BLUE!

So because certain players decided to leave it should cause us pain? Why not wish the best for those who were formerly at Michigan? It's not like either of those players pulled a Boren.
I don't know about you all, but I thought our '09 football team was fun to watch. Sure, the losses sucked, but it was exciting to see where a glimpse of what we'll be like in years to come.
If it's any consolation, if Udoh had stayed he might possibly have gone pro a year ago. He was making major strides his sophomore year here and was on the verge of a breakout.
