He destroyed the Eagles and made the 49ers..... more of a laughingstock.... wait is that even possible. No NFL team in their right mind would make Chip Kelly their head coach. Oh wait, we just got word Chip Kelly to Cleveland

But does he want to sit out a year and hope either ND or UCLA opens up?

Michigan, OSU, PSU, Bama, LSU, Florida, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Clemson, Louisville, Miami, Washington and Stanford aren't opening up barring a motorcycle crash with a subordinate mistress on board.

Florida was the only one I had second thoughts on. That would be a quick hook and I'd be surprised if Foley were willing to admit a mistake there (especially with the uninspiring coaching search that led to this).

If the team continues to look the exact same as when Muschamp was there, maybe. I don't often think about Auburn so my bad on the omission there.

The only way he takes Cal is if he really wants to get to work on washing off the stink of back to back firings. I just think there's a non-zero chance that's the case.

prove themselves in those jobs. It helps to have the same AD that hired him, but if Florida's moving in the wrong direction this season, I'd bet on a change. Miami looks to be back on their way up and UF slipping to third in their state won't go over well down there.

I see Kelly liking a place where recruiting will be relatively easy and he can largely get by on his rep. I'm not sure how many jobs fit that description, but Cal certainly doesn't. USC, UCLA, ND, certain SEC schools probably do. Taking the Cal job this late means getting stuck with a subpar recruiting class too.

Who is now swimming in national titles in college. Talk about falling up, Harbaugh was ten times more successful in the NFL. Strange you know, that doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe it's time for the B1G get on a level playing field and petition the NCAA to allow the schools to start paying players. I am personally frustrated to the point of giving up on college football if all any team can do is come in second to Alabama and call that a national championship.

Right now college football is rigged for the rule benders to get all the breaks, line up 5 stars like they are cords of wood while the B1G is happy if they get 10 per year in the entire conference. You can't attribute that to good weather because right now Alabama has closed roads to non emergency traveling, due to icy conditions have made the roads extremely hazardous.

On the other hand they play high school football (Friday night lights) down south like it's the only game in town, and close to home 5 star prospects would make recruiting easier for them. Florida should be football heaven when weather and talent is combined, they Florida State, University of Florida, and Miami should be getting their share of National titles but when you compare Alabama with Auburn as a neighbor is the King of recruiting and no one else comes close.

Not likely, sure. But definitely possible. Maybe he's tired of getting fired every other year as wants a place he can stay for a bit.

At Cal he'll be king and will be given as long as he needs to get things going.

If he turns them around quickly he'll be able to make the jump to a bigger program. If he turns out to be a flash in the pan, he'll still be given 5+ years in Berkeley before they'd get rid of him. Remember, his system was novel back in 2008, now everyone runs it. Plus they had to cheat at Oregon to get top recruits from the south, and he ended up with a show-cause for his trouble.

That wasn't the NFL guys saying it, everyone who knew him in Eugene said this. However, I agree with the comment that he better warm up to it cuz I'm not sure what his NFL future is. Maybe OC but he's an awkward fit as an assistant for a lot of reasons

Have to a have a guy in place when you fire someone this late. Sure has been a wild ride for Dykes at Cal. He's wanted to go home to Texas since he's been there.
