All this while talking to Slaton and some Georgia kids.... He Gone

The admin who sent out that thank you should be on performance review.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:42 AM ^
I am sure that Aubrey spells every name he writes down correctly, and if he doesn't, I am sure that he would be perfectly fine with people vilifying him for it.
I understand that should not have happened, but Aubrey's response here tells you a whole lot more about his character. He is likely a moldy blueberry.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:58 AM ^
They also thanked him for attending an event that he was not at. To be honest, it was a major Fuck up and not excusable. There are probably 50-100 people on this board who would have immediately caught that mistake based on our knowledge of recruiting visits. That means that one of the staffers and whoever reviewed the lists know less about what is going on than people on this board - ask yourself if you would have caught this mistake with a 5 star commit.
I have hired a lot of employees in my career and if I was trying to sort through a dozen or so CVs and somebody misspelled my company name or had an obvious error in their cover letter - that person would probably be out.
Don't get me wrong- I love this regime and can't wait for the 2017 season - but let's not rationalize a major fuck up.
January 5th, 2017 at 9:06 AM ^
Someone screwd up but you're crazy if you think that's the reason he decommitted.
January 5th, 2017 at 9:14 AM ^
All I am saying is that it wasn't a nothing event. If we were his only P5 offer, I am sure he would gotten over it quickly. But in a highly competitive recruitment against other top schools, I am not surprised it was a factor for him.
Andrew I can only imagine the negative recruiting that came out if this. I am sure all of the other schools pounded us for that mistake.
January 5th, 2017 at 10:10 AM ^
think it really is only a big deal to him if he had already decided he did not want to come here. It is the kind of mistake, given that he had in theory already "decided" on Michigan, that would only anger or otherwise bother somebody if they were looking for a reason to let it. If not, the instinctive response is to really not care and to let it go, because you are not looking for "evidence" of anything, one way or another. If he were sold on Michigan and really committed, his first response would have been to defend Michigan in his own mind, not take a somewhat irrational amount of offense to it, that doesn't add up.
I can understand being a little irritated that the mistake allowed him a face-saving way to go elsewhere, if that even really matters to anybody here, but I think it is pretty clear that it had nothing to do with his actual decision.
January 5th, 2017 at 9:02 AM ^
Yet we're in his top 3 and loves michigan for the academics. This seems far fetched. Hopefully we play and destroy the school he goes too. Other than that i don't really care. Good luck to him he he chooses otherwise.
January 5th, 2017 at 9:18 AM ^
I've become tired of that academic argument. There are plenty of positive examples like Gary and DPJ who said academics matter and go to Michigan because of it. But then there are guys like Wilson, who said that the UGA President told him that a degree from the UGA college of business held as much weight as one from Ross. Are you kidding me? Undergrad or graduate school, Ross is top 10. UGA is like 60. It might hold some weight down south, but Ross is global. Companies like McKinsey and major Fortune 500 companies recruit out of the Ivys, Cal, Stanford, Michigan, and UCLA. Not Georgia. Same with Hand. If he really cared about the academic part, Alabama compared to Michigan? Please.
And I don't care if that sounds smug, it's true.
January 5th, 2017 at 10:48 AM ^
that Ross is way better than the UGA B-school. The issue is that recruits like Solomon and their parents/guardians still need to do their due diligence, and not take as the gospel everything they hear on the recruiting trail. People at almost every school are going to tell them what they want to hear as well as untruths like this business school tale. Unfortunately, Michigan has no control over whether recruits do that or not (do the research and check things out). The staff can respond to it if Solomon asks them. Crootin.
January 5th, 2017 at 10:42 AM ^
I posted this when the event first happened, but:
I have a name with an alternate spelling. people spell it wrong probably every day. Hell, after 10+ years of marriage my in laws still can't get it right.
I don't get offended. I don't even bother correcting people most of the time. it's not worth the effort, just let it roll off your back.
Aubrey sounds like he needs more maturity. Maybe some day he won't be so sensative to honest mistakes. it's kind of silly that he is using this little gaffe to base a major life decision.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:13 AM ^
We will be fine with out him.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:21 AM ^
Unless you are also a teenager, I would like to think us fans would be above a response like that.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:30 AM ^
He said "Fuck Michigan".
I don't care if the person saying that is 8 or 80, they can go to hell.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:33 AM ^
My sentiments exactly!
January 5th, 2017 at 8:56 AM ^
hahahah!!
"yeah, fuck you too, little 8 year old. Santa thinks your name is little babyback bitch."
/like a sad, pondering puppy the kids dad just stares listlessly into the night sky.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:46 AM ^
Yeah right! They're already talking about his moms. If he had any reservations about coming all he'd have to do is read today's post! F *ichigan

Wait let me get this straight the kids actually said "F ichigan"? That must have sounded really awkward.
January 5th, 2017 at 10:22 AM ^
I've read your posts and you're a 100% hypocrite. Hell yes you are! I've been a Michigan fan for life and I have nothing to prove to you. Like I said I could care less about what an 18 year old says especially if someone takes it and judges him and his mom(wow) and his upbringing. You're the troll. He made a mistake, period!

you would not type *ichigan, like an OSU troll that does not want to type M.
You would also not put an F in front of our wonderful, world class, record setting University of Michigan.

Retarded I typed what Solomon said for the last Damn time. Simpleton

In response to tsunami, he said that he'd like to think some people would be above a response of berating an 18 year old. And I said,"yeah right!" Got it?

January 5th, 2017 at 9:55 AM ^
and then he said 'F *ichigan'. Can't believe he left that part out.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:12 AM ^
Seems like a real "tell people what they want to hear" kind of person.
This coming the same day he said that Michigan wasn't out of it to Michigan recruiting analysts.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:30 AM ^
Our hat will get tossed on the floor and the Georgia/Bama drama will start.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:56 AM ^
We are in his top three
Wow, I'd hate to hear how he talks about the other teams.
He must be absolutely brutal on Purdue.

That victory song.
January 5th, 2017 at 8:18 AM ^
And we STILL can't spell his name right.
No wonder he's salty about Michigan...
January 5th, 2017 at 8:32 AM ^
spelled my name right. Not that it excuses the clerical error, but is "F Michigan" an appropriate response to that?
January 5th, 2017 at 8:44 AM ^
Same here. My last name sounds differently than it spells. I literally have people at work laugh because emails don't come to me because they spell it wrong... I've never said f them.
