Go Eskimos!

Yeah, Stamps not in any need in the QB department. Just hope that Mitchell can bring home a few more Grey Cups - it's been frustrating lighting the league on fire in the regular season only to lose it in the playoffs these last couple seasons.

Great college QB, but I doubt he would even be drafted...I know people have been hating on him lately, but he is still really, really good and I fear he has another big game at the big house next year - hopefully in a loss.

You and I clearly have different definitions of the words "great" and "really".

I wonder if JT is down with a senior year position change to better his draft status. He's obviously not going to be a QB at the next level.

Not even if the next level is in Japan.

The problem was that they trained the running out of him. In the playoff game, there were so many times he could of picked up an easy 5-10 yards if he'd run. Worst thing you can do to a dual threat QB is to make them into a pure pocket passer, which is what OSU did.

Tim Beck probably ruined his chances for an early departure. Could still probably be an NFL QB with the right coaching.

Alex Smith.
Except Harbaugh is the one fixed that dude. Sooooo, nobody?

This is true. And really should be talked about a lot more than it has been.

not bad, not good. The main difference here is that JT Barrett is an awful passer. As a QB, he'll be lucky to stick in the CFL
January 4th, 2017 at 5:41 PM ^
The CFL insult is good but being a CFL QB is not something just everybody can walk in and do well. There aren't that many teams and the good ones stick around for decades. The ancient Henry Burris just won the Grey Cup this year, for example.
January 4th, 2017 at 6:21 PM ^
You actually have to be pretty damn good to be a CFL QB.

Not sure why you're getting negged, but I agree. In 2014, when JT was thrown in for Braxton, he was a good passer but he was raw. The dude threw an awesome deep ball.
Now after being coached by Tim Beck, he has managed to regress significantly the past two years and can't throw for shit now.
I gladly welcome back 2016 JT as a Michigan fan.

Something definitely went wrong when JT went from Herman to Beck/Warriner.
2014: 34 passing TDs, 65% completions, 9 yards per attempt.
2016: 25 passing TDs, 61% completions, 6.7 ypa.
2015 is the interesting case study, because JT still had Elliott to hand off to and Mike Thomas to throw to like 2014, but both him and Cardale struggled mightily relative to their 2014 peaks. JT's ypa declined to 6.7 (the same as this season) and his % dropped to 63. Cardale's ypa dropped a full yard in 2015, and remember he put up his 9.8 ypa against Wisocnsin, Alabama and Oregon, not the non-con slate + PSU and IU he faced before getting benched in 2015.
Did both forget how to play QB? Or was Warriner in over his head calling a game and Beck just another cook in the kitchen corrupting OSU's offensive identity even further?
When I see Cardale, 'Zeke, and Darron Lee suggest a steep decline in game-plan/play-calling from 2014 to 2015 and '16, I tend to place the blame at the feet of the offensive braintrust and not JT.
