2017 Early Enrollees - who are you most excited to see?

Submitted by Blue in Paradise on
Here is the list: DPJ, Ambry Thomas, Tarik Black, Dylan McCaffrey, JKP, Cesar Ruiz, Donovan Jeter, CMH, Brad Hawkins, Phil Paea, Benji St-Juste, J'Marick Woods, JaRaymond Hall and Ben Mason. Plus hopefully an RB :) That would be 15 EE, I don't remember ever having so many in the past. Who are you most excited to see in Spring Camp? Let's stick to the guys already committed... DPJ or McCaffrey are the easy answers but my vote would go to Ambry Thomas.

It's true that he's an early enrollee.

If you're asking me if I know anything definitive, I don't. The people I talk to either haven't gotten confirmation from his camp or they are sworn to secrecy. Everything in the last month points to Michigan IMO, but the kid and his inner circle have played this really close to the vest and quiet. Gotta respect a mega talent that doesn't need the spotlight. I'd guess he's in Ann Arbor come Monday but it could go either way.

e.g., When will we have a final list of Early Enrollees?

That would avoid people logging in expecting to see a list of early enrollees, and then frustratingly find the post is only a question on a topic that has been discussed at least once in the past few days.

Cesar Ruiz - if he is able to start from day 1 it allows for Cole to move out to LT if there are other injuries or performance issues. DPJ / Ambry are 2A/2B....all 3 might play meaningful minutes in opener against Florida and be starting by time Michigan State comes to town.

I'd rather not have Cole at LT.  I think another year in the same position would do him some good and he's already shown he can't handle anything above average on the outside.  Puts a hard cap on the performance of your line, especially if you are adding in a true freshman center.  If he is good enough to play as freshman I'd rather it be as a guard for a year.

I think he is penciled in at center, but if he made the team better by playing LT (in a "pinch") would it be a dick move for him not to want to move outside? The greater good of the team I would think is most important. Long time before that is an issue and hopefully never comes to fruition....already looking forward to trip down to Texas.

Understand that in a perfect world Cole stays at Center, but if Newsome is not back and whomever breaks camp at LT struggles early (hopefully not the case)....flexibility comes with Ruiz being ready to contribute from day 1. We already know Coach is going to put best 5 out there no matter their age or past position. Perhaps if you had me answer this question in a week it would be Filiaga.

him returning for his Senior year was him getting better as a Center for the NFL. I think we should expect him at Center. If that does not happen it likely means bad things have happened.

Ruiz could see the field at Guard if we need to move Bredeson out to Tackle.

1 - Ruiz is needed because we are thin upfront. I would love to see him at OG next year then move to center the following year.

2 - DPJ - If Jabrill is gone we need some high octane plays.

If you are talking about:

- for 2017, it has to be Harris if he comes, and DPJ otherwise

- if you are talking about high need to develop quickly for 2018, I'd say Ruiz.

Najee Harris, end thread.

Seeing him in this class would be AMAZING.

That said, DPJ will likely be my "favorite player" of the future. Love what that kid brings on and off the field. Can't wait to see him in a winged helmet.

But still, with all of the odds against us? Najee Harris should be who we ALL want to see in spring practice. Because that means we can have nice things.
