Crystal Balls not looking good regarding Mr. Solomon

Submitted by Losher on
With some content out there on the internet right now talking about Aubrey Solomon it seems like Alabama is about to add another large piece to their class. Along with the bama guys saying they lead for Solomon the CB trend is now all in favor of bama. Even all the Michigan insiders have moved their picks to bama. All the talk about having a chance to bring him back into the fold has since disappeared. This is a huge miss for Michigan at a position of need for the next year. Let's just hope this isn't a trend for the rest of the guys on the board and Michigan can close out with some of the top guys in the country

He would join Marquise Hill, Dashawn Hand and probably more than a few other DL in the south that Michigan has tried to pull north without success over the last decade or more. It's a longshot in the best of circumstances.

seems like a class of 31 or 32 isn't going to happen - we won't just take warm bodies

so 2018 class will likely be normal sized, which may not be horrible, balancing out the classes

the 29 in the 2016 class is down to 26 with Hawkings moving to 2017, Mitchell leaving and Johnson never making it here

getting 26-27 each season may be best in the long run

Southern top 100 prospect. I had an inclination he was never signing with Michigan.

If we do miss out on the remaining OL/DL prospects, is there a chance we bring in a grad transfer or two (especially on the OL)?

I've been meaning to look into this but it's probably still too early. This would be a GREAT year to take 2-3 grad transfers. It'll open up more spots for next year's class AND provide us with much needed experience next season.

Also thought about position switches.

For example, can David Dawson play DT? He's not going to start but neither was Solomon. Could he provide us with a few snaps? No clue. But just thinking about all options.

obviously this class is a success but a year ago if you had asked me what the positions of need where, I would have said OT and DT. it is disheartening to see us seem to miss out on all the top guys at those positions.

We passed on two DTs from Jersey for unknown and mysterious reasons (Bolds/Hansard). Not saying they weren't legit reasons, just saying Jersey has some that we passed on. Also Tyler Friday is an elite 5-star DT in 2018. Oh and lastly Gary is a pretty decent Jersey prospect on the DL. But this year just wasn't great for our positions of need. Lastly lastly, eff Devery Hamilton.

If we miss on Filiaga, then this class will be a bit of a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, this class has a lot of talent (I think we have more four star recruits that any other team right now). If we don't land an elite OT, DT, or NT, however, it is hard to consider this class a great one. Great classes fill significant holes and needs on a team's roster.

I have a lot of friends who are doctors, dentists and sucessful business people who went to "lousy" second and third tier schools.   I think smart people get a lot of individual attention at those schools and don't get weeded out.   Michigan is for the best students.  Not necessarily the best student atheletes.

He got his stuff together to get a PSU offer...maybe we can kick the tires there? Sell Slaton on being a DT (looks like he and Leon-Herbert may be Gators soon)?

Rutger Reitmaier? Put the full court press on again?

Corey Bolds? He's a Paramus kid...Dalyn Wade-Perry has a hyphen.
