Manny Harris is Chad Ford's #85 Prospect
Unfortunately behind a paywall, but Chad Ford has rated Manny Harris his #85 prospect for the upcoming draft.
Given that only 60 players get drafted, this might be yet another sign that Manny would likely benefit financially by staying another year.

Too bad for Sims, but if he doesn't make it in the NBA, he will be a successful player in Europe. I hope more reports come in like this for Manny, that way he will stay. No way he would leave early if he is risking not even getting drafted, that doesn't make sense.
Hopefully Horford and Zeigler find themselves Blue. Then with Harris back we would have a good chance at being at least an NIT team.

That's always been the rumor, I don't think I've seen anything more concrete than that, though

Udoh was top 20ish and Robin Benzing was top 40ish. What a frontcourt (with an unranked Sims) that would have been.
The Benzing thing is under appreciated. Dude can ball.
And people who criticize Beilein's recruiting might want to keep in mind that he found this kid when no one else knew about him. He did the same thing with Evan Smotrycz.
#85 out of a total of 60... those odds didn't stop Ernest Shazor from skipping his Sr year for the pros
We would all be happier... Including Manny.
So if Manny leaves it says one of two things:
1) I've got an agent in my ear (ala DW)
2) I'm done with Beilein / keeping my promise to leave with Peedi
I hope he stays. I could go for one more year of broken jumpshot, amazing rebounding for his size, and occaisonally turning into the smoke monster.
I could REALLY go for one more year of him with a fixed jumper.

3) I like crepes.
What's the point of "keeping a promise to leave together" when the two of them almost certainly won't be on the same team next year?
I assume that means Europe or Michigan for Manny. Hopefully he stays and gets the jumper going. He's a virtual lock if he can start shooting well.
Virtual lock for what? First Round? If Manny has another year like this past one, he will not be drafted. However, with a B10 first team year he could be First Round in 2011, otherwise second round or Europe.

So we have no NBA level talent, our 2 seniors rarely played together and played virtually the same position, we were sophomore and freshman heavy in PT, played in a conference with 4 very good teams, and Belien did a poor job?
We definitely did not have "#15 in the country" talent. However, we still underperformed, losing to BC (at home), Penn State (at home), Indiana, Northwestern twice (once at home), etc. Just too many loses to non-tourney teams. You can argue we didn't have better than "NCAA bubble talent", but we didn't come close to that this year. Heck, we didn't even make the NIT.
I like Beilein, but this wasn't a good year. Maybe not a "poor" job, but certainly not as good as expected/required. The team underperformed, even considering its lack of NBA talent (also: I would argue Harris has NBA talent - but for whatever reason -- attitude, coaching, bad luck, whatever -- he regressed this season.)
Belien is still putting his program in place and it will be nice when he finally gets some bigs into the lineup. Michigan is going to be breaking in 3 or 4 bigs next season, so next year is probably going to be difficult as well, depending on the readiness of Mclimans, Morgan, Smotrycz and maybe Horford.
Where I give Belien a break and put the onus on the players is shooting percentage. Just a modicum of improvement in shooting surely would have had us in the NIT.
I did like the way Belien developed Darius and even Stu. Morris seemed to improve by the game and Douglass showed signs at the end of the year, of being capable of handling the extra responsibility Belien thrust upon him. Those 2 guards continued improvement bodes well for future.
Depth should be an added bonus next year. We will be much deeper, which should help our shooting next year. I saw a tired team down the stretch. If a couple of the bigs are ready to contribute, along with Vogrich, and maybe Hardaway we should be decent. If we are able throw Manny and or Ziegler into the equation, I think we will be much improved.
So if Belien had a bad year, and it is arguable that he did, I think it is a blip on the radar, and good Michigan basketball teams are on the horizon.
