OT: Festivus - Airing of Grievances

Submitted by Magnus on

I saw it requested in another thread, so here is the place for the annual Airing of Grievances.

I have a problem with stephenrjking, whose name I thought was stephenjrking for the longest time.

I also have a problem with whoever negs this thread.

Grievances? Air them. Which MGoBloggers really grind your gears?

She is certainly both, but prolly still a bit funnier than Kevin Hart.  And both of them might be less funny than Sinbad, which I didn't think was possible for anyone to be less funny than Sinbad.

Cool but .... something like this will happen again. Every time someone says "this is the bottom, can't get worse, can't let this happen again" ..... it always happens again.

Also, he's not even in office yet so it's pretty stupid to have to "make sure it never happens again" when he could possibly be the best President we ever had.

Ok, Mabel.  I agree.  I wish the guy I was responding to hadn't mentioned Amy Schumer leaving because of Trump's election.

Should I have let it go?  Yeah, I suppose so.  But this is the Airing of Grievances and I have a bone to pick with hypocrites.  ;)

I just do not like Amy Schumer and do not find her funny in the least - in reality, I actually find her offensive. She can leave bc she promised to based on the election results or bc her recent Old Navy commercials are among the worst ads I have ever seen... doesn't matter to me.

Not sure what your comment is about hypocrites - this was never a political statement until some with reading comprehension issues made it so.

I got a problem with people who say all sorts of political shit and pretend it's not political or can't see how it's political but object to what they're willing or able to see as political whenever it's not the politics they like, and when it logically and factually defeats their bullshit.

You people are ... special.  One episode of her show is a thousand times funnier than all of you fools have ever been in your lives, combined.

Sinbad fans criticizing her is equivalent to the 3 stooges questioning the intelligence of Einstein.

Or are you just filing a grievance with Amy Schumer? She did standup here in Chicago last month. I listened to her shtick on youtube. Not for me. The Tribune reviewer referenced a mother / daughter who cluelessly went together. Wow. Can't even imagine that.

It's 1995, and my wife and her good friend and I head down to ye olde Ann Arbor I & II to watch Boogie Nights.  We roughly know what we're getting into, so that part's fine.

But then, what looks like a PhD candidate and his Church Lady mom settle in a few rows ahead of us.  At the point William Macy Jr.'s character's wife is banging someone on the driveway, Church Lady gets up and wordlessly leaves the theatre.  PhD candidate sheepishly follows her out, grabbing the coats left in his and her chair.

All of which I found hilarious, because I'm a bit of a jerk.*  But you wanna talk about going into a show clueless?  That was clueless.

*Maybe more than a bit.

My friend and his conservative religious wife, who is a barrel rider and boards horses, decide to watch Brokeback Mountain. It wasn't exactly what they were expecting! Hijinks ensued and we still laugh at him about it 10 years later ; never gets old (for us!). We don't see much of her anymore for some reason...

  • favorite topping on pizza
  • usually order a chinese dish that has them
  • love portabellos, shitakes, buttons
  • my kids also love and we didn't even have to force feed them
  • used to be a fav form of alt reality

Maybe we need to settle this via Feats of Strength
