I hate to say it but im glad Michigan wasnt ranked 4th  last week.

Michigan sitting idle would have been jumped and we would all be livid.

Its easier to take , knowing we were  a long shot .

The Big Ten West will literally never be good or playoff worthy.  Iowa plays the ugliest, crappiest brand of football out there.  It is basically an hour of rugby scrum.  They weren't good last year and they were mediocre this year.  The Big Ten West will perpetually be represented by Wisconsin, with a weak Nebraska thrown in from time to time.  It is a sham.  And the fact that Michigan has to play @MSU and @OSU time after time right now when OSU gets the more manageable home-and-home each season is another example of Big Ten favoritism and cronyism.

This league needs a total makeover.  Will not be supporting anything Big Ten related from here on out.  Really sucks because I love Michigan but the Big Ten conference and commissioner have soured me on college football.

This really is the issue. Unbalanced Big Ten divisions make it less likely the true #1 and #2 teams square off for the conference championship. Until it gets fixed or until the playoffs expand to 8 to mitigate the imbalance, the Michigan/OSU game will continue to be a huge bottleneck.

He just said that his team was overworked and worn out when they lost to OSU in '14 due to the team schedule at the time. That they learned to give the players more time leading up to the playoffs.

Apparently, I needed a reminder of how much I don't like Bama. Thanks, Nick!

I'm jaded. We wasted a golden opportunity this year to beat Ohio state and go to the playoffs. Our team is easily a top 4 team and I'd argue top 2, but we blew it. It's especially hard when you watch all the teams who needed to win on championship Saturday take care of business. Ugh I'm salty. Better luck next year Blue... if anything hopefully this lites a bigger fire for Harbaugh to beat osu and get in the top 4 next year.. heading in the right direction at least.

Unbalanced divisions, scheduling that seems corrupt, poor refereeing (not just OSU, overall), lack of transparency, a commissioner who just appears... creepy.  Like someone I wouldn't want over for dinner.

This conference is a sham.  Grabbing Maryland and Rutgers for... what?  It is a pathetic joke.

What makes me nervous is will Jim make it big next year? This year there were two 3rd year coaches (Franklin and Peterson) that made it big. If Jim doesnt produce next year what does that tell us?

going from Hoke recruits to Harbaugh recruits will produce a challenging reload for 2017. This bowl practice, spring ball and an awesome summer are needed to get these youngsters ready. Would like to see some development in the Bowl game, like get Onwenu some reps at guard. We are going to need him to step up next year. Like to see more from the youngsters on defense - Hudson, Hill, Long, Bush - these guys are the future and getting reps versus FSU would be very valuable.

It tells us that each position is different, games have crazy outcomes, and that college football is unpredictable.
Let's not forget, Franklin was on the hot seat early in the season.
If you don't think 10-3 and 11-2 are good years after going 5-7 then you've lost sense of reality. Michigan will be great under Harbaugh, let's not get crazy here.

I agree just pisses me off watching franklin win a big ten, the same guy who got outschemed by brady hoke. This year was great for me despite what the outcome was and what other thought. I just wonder how much pressure he will be under, people will always point at meyer, franklin and others saying see they did it on their second and third year why cant Jim get it done at Michigan.

Our rivals, the team up north, they're as good of a team as we've played in the last 5 years...

I hate Urban, but FUCK!!!! That makes me so mad because that says we're good enough to be in this thing and even Urban fucking Meyer admits it.

So if Clemson wins...

You have PSU #4...so really it didn't matter. Kind of what I was saying last night. We needed both Clemson AND Washington to lose.

And wow, you would've had 3 B1G teams?! That would've been very interesting to see if they would've had the stones to do it.

...also Washington is not Sparty. Bama better watch out. Especially with all of the injuries to their DBs. Washington is either going to get MANBALLED to death, or Bama isn't going to be able to deal with an offense that has a pulse for the first time all year.

This year will be a perfect teaching scenario for the Michigan program, and it can be expressed in one simple word/concept:

EXECUTE!!!!!!

Harbaugh & Co. put the team in position to win every game, and be in the playoff ... JUST F$&@ING EXECUTE. All this bitching about refs (who sucked), OSU bias, the Committeee, who is in, etc. is all shit!!! The Michigan team has nobody to blame but itself. The plays were there to be made. The teams that were in made the plays when they were there to be made, simple as that.

Maybe it's the left over residue of the previous regime, who knows. But for all this team's talent they sure didn't rise to the occasion versus Iowa and OSU and MAKE THE PLAYS THAT WERE THERE TO BE MADE. If you do that, you don't have to reply upon any other teams or whims of a committee.

Admittedly, we had it on in the background, the Selection Show, but the playoff rankings were something for which the whole room went silent, and when it was revealed that Michigan was #^, myself and others walked up to the screen in the family room and took turns giving the finger to Penn State's logo - it was cathartic.

I think what rankles the most isn't missing the playoffs, I can't argue too much with it in terms of Michigan' being excluded.

What bothers me the most is what it says about the B1G East, which was reworked to be OSU, PSU, UM.  I get that there's an additional game for PSU, so I get how the conclusion is reached, but, like most, think the eye-test was placed on the sacrifical altar.

Perhaps after the committee decided their top 4, they then decided penn st over UM. Had Washington or Clemson lost, there is no way to know that penn st would have been ahead of UM and in.

Hey folks,

Thanks to everyone who checked out the Be The Committee voting system that we posted on Friday night. We've been updating the teams' resumes as their records and advanced statistics have evolved over the past 48 hours, and we've super excited to have accrued over 75,000 votes at this point. The rankings we're displaying on the site are constantly being updated real time as votes continue to trickle in.

For anyone curious to see how the votes have shaken out, there's been a pretty strong consensus that Alabama and OSU are #1 and #2 respectively, and there's been considerable fluctuation in spots #3-5 among Michigan, Clemson, and Washington. PSU is down at #7, below Oklahoma. The site is here if you want to check it out (click on Rankings): http://bethecommittee.com/

I see a lot of people saying that Iowa is the game that cost Michigan a spot in the playoff, and I'm not so sure. I think the top 4 would be exactly the same if we had beat Iowa and still lost to OSU.

I just don't see the committee putting us ahead of 12-1 conference champion Washington no matter what they say. It's too clean to have 4 conference champions make up the field and they would have screwed us over anyway.
