Being #5 or #6 doesn't matter.  I hope we beat FSU or whoever we play and Bama rolls UW/USC kills PSU.  I hope the CFP ratings blow and everyone realizes we should've been #4.

And next year, I hope we can have a healthy QB for the OSU game.

We finsihed 4th in our conference, that's the bottom line, we beat the Conference Champions soundly 3 months ago, but they beat Ohio State a few weeks ago and we came up short last week.  Beat Iowa and we would have been in ahead of Washington.

Bring on FSU!

Yeah, we're all surprised that Penn State won it, but they did not steal anything to do it.

They did what they needed to do, according to the rules that existed before the season even started.

They didn't do anything that we couldn't do.  We just didn't do it.

Same thing with MSU last year.  Gotta take care of business.

Like it or not -- I most certainly don't -- but the committee probably made the "right" decision here. I'm not gonna get too bent out of shape between the #5 and #6 picks. If it ain't top 4, well...you ain't in.

The more interesting scenario would have happened if PSU hadn't lost to Pitt, and all other things remained equal. Now that would have made things a bit tougher.

As it is, they went with the safest, least-controversial option.

It makes my brain hurt, tho, looking back on ALL THE LITTLE THINGS that could have gone our way this past season that didn't -- both for our games, and in other teams' games.

Bring on Florida State.

Heal up (fully), Wilton.

Not surprising, but we only have ourselves to blame for being left out. Shit the bed in Iowa, and couldn't make a fucking first down in the entire 4th quarter against OSU. That would've sealed the game.

Prepare for sweating out an Alabama/OSU title game. The stars seem to align for those fucks whenever they need a helping hand.

I'm surprised that they haven't been forced to trot a stud backup QB onto the field yet. I think they're a much more dangerous team when they're trying to take the top off a defense. Barrett don't turn it over very ofter but I think fear of a pick is holding his game back. They can beat Clemson with they're run game but they'll have to be able to go deep if they want a shot a beating bama.

Margin between UM and UW. In the future, we know to never listen to that BS again if we're sitting at home waiting for results again (which, let's face it, is gonna happen again). Lesson learned: stop fucking relying on other teams to do your shit for you and take care of business when it matters.

I don't know, more information was provided in the time between when they said that and todays ranking including Washington beating a common opponent more handily than we did.  That was always the thing about the commitee's comments, they were made without complete profiles

Who is the Black guy. Every time he spoke it seemed like his only point was to say why he likes psu over Michigan. It was strange. Only thing he seemed to care about.

I don't understand why some of you are whining. We were beaten by Iowa. That's a worse loss than anyone in the top 4 has.

Again, we lost to Iowa, and finished the season 1-2.

Those of you thinking Michigan was going to get in after the way the season ended are clearly people who favor the "every kid deserves a trophy" mantra.

We didn't earn it. This is a meritocracy. We don't get a trophy for losing to Iowa.

Bullshit. A true meritocracy isn't subjective. I love college football and the arguments we have about who should be in or who shouldn't but come on, don't give me this horseshit that it's a meritocracy. If that were the case, Ohio State would not be in the playoff since they didn't even earn it in their own conference.

I think our issue was this:

The committee kept talking about "Best 4 no matter what".  The 4 teams that could beat all the other teams.

By this criteria, Michigan should be in.  Even all the pundits that wanted to see UW or PSU in the 4th slot kept saying "But we do think that Michigan is one of the best 4 teams".

But at the end of the day, the committee went with "most deserving" over the course of the season.  NOT the 4 teams that would beat all the other teams.

OK, fine.  That's an approach.  Just be upfront about it in the first place.

What I hate is that timing matters. It matters when you lose. That's why Bama plays all their toughest games in the beginning of the season. If they lose, they have all season long to work their way back. If we lost to Iowa in the beginning of the season, we may have a different look today.

And as sobering as it is, we really needed Colorado and VT to win to give us a chance.  The Iowa game is what screwed us.  I think we all knew that.

If Speight could've just hit one of those deep shots against Iowa, we're probably having a different conversation this afternoon.  Or if we would've ran the clock out when we had the chance against Iowa or OSU, things would've been different.  We didn't execute when we needed it.

I wanted Michigan as much as anyone but we have to be realistic. We are clearly one of the best teams in he NCAA but we let Iowa beat us which ultimately cost us.

Even if we beat Iowa we wouldn't of went to the playoffs bc of Clemson and Washington. I don't see how we would've gotten in regardless.
