1 thought = 1 dollar donated to the cause
1 prayer = 5 awarenesses of gun violence
November 28th, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
But who will raise awareness for automobile and knife violence?

Not that I know of, but whoever gets it out there will indubitably make a shitload of money.
November 28th, 2016 at 11:31 AM ^
Why is that getting downvoted? Maybe it's a clichéd expression, but the sentiment is appropriate, no?
November 28th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
There was a deleted subthread in here with multiple replies where OP was being toxic.

I don't know what the current situation is, but if I were those people...I wouldn't be standing anywhere near an active shooter situation.
November 28th, 2016 at 10:21 AM ^
Hope nobody was/is hurt.
The officials were still dogshit.
November 28th, 2016 at 11:35 AM ^

Good luck, shoot the shooter sbefore they take out kids just trying to better themselves. No place for this crap anywhere.
November 28th, 2016 at 10:39 AM ^
When you shoot (or attempt to shoot) an innocent person, you forfeit your right to exist.
I wish these angry fucks would just take it out on themselves.
November 28th, 2016 at 10:37 AM ^
I'm so sick of this shit. Hope everyone is ok and any perpetrators get wrecked.
November 28th, 2016 at 10:37 AM ^
Gunmen, plural?
November 28th, 2016 at 10:39 AM ^
And allegedly, one is down (dead?) already.

This could be very serious. Watching the news now, many ambulances there. They are saying at least 7 shot.
As previously mentioned, too many of these incident happening now.
November 28th, 2016 at 10:40 AM ^
These are something else. OSU's Emergency Line tweeted out instructions to "run hide fight" (in that order) which is I guess the standard instruction for this kind of thing but still uncomfortably real.
Unconfirmed hearsay on r/cfb is that one or two people hit students with a car, then got out with a knife. but it's way too early to say anything definitely.

Not a criminal vengeance system.
Also, given the choice between being locked in a box for the next 40 years and death, I'd take death every time. Life in prison would be way worse.

but doesn't solve anything. If someone is schizophrenic or completely out of their mind, the death penalty does not work as a deterrent to future shootings.
Locking someone like this up in a mental facility to understand how that mind works, how to medicate such people, how to limit their access to guns, etc is probably the most pragmatic approach.

Half the country disagrees with you.
Isn't that a nice thought :)

My sister-in-law lost her best friend in the Virginia Tech shooting. I've seen the pain this can cause so I hope and pray that no one gets hurt.

About that, a large chunk of those comments should hopefully be gone at least on the main site. I just removed the whole subthread even though individual remarks may or may not have been problematic - that's just how the interface works here.
I just don't want to see anyone say things they'll regret, especially in a thread reporting this sort of event.

Sure, someone who really wants to post a "joke" will do so regardless. But, perhaps the "no joke" warning helps someone refrain from having a momentarily lapse of judgement.
