Early Odds -- OSU by a touchdown

Submitted by ChalmersE on

Actually the initial odds were 7 1/2, but at least one site has it at 6 1/2.

And it may work.

The slappies on 11W are all talking about running up the score on Michigan to impress the Committee.

JT Barrett himself is shooting his mouth off about how it's unthinkable to leave OSU out of the CFP . . . before he's even played Michigan.  He should be talking about how ti's unthinkable not to be able to complete a pass over 10 yards.

Their focus is on places other than where it should be.  They are busy watching polls and rankings and Vegas lines.

They are not coming into this game with the same focus and intensity they had last year.

I could not care less how we win it.

We won it in '95 when they were favored because they did not take us seriously enough.  Then we won it in '96 when they were favored because they took us too seriously.

They both felt pretty damn good to me.

Whatever works.

We will be handicapped if we do not have Speight.  It's OK with me if they handicap themselves a little by focusing too much on external noise.

I completely agree with this!   I've been surrounded by OSU fans throughout my career and it seems as though every office I've worked in, there is a rabid contingent that has made the last 11-12 years miserable.  At this point, I don't care if OSU loses the game which gives us the win.  I just want to have a chance to go to work with my head held high.

Sadly I didn't start my Michigan football addiction until I was already in the Marines.  I remember winning the National Championship when I was in high school, but didn't follow the team closely.   I started with Navarre.... so sadly I don't remember too much of the good guys winning.  So I started following during the downward slide.  Kept my faith through RR and Hoke...

Some OSU fan was repeatedly bashing me on twitter about Speight's downfield throwing accuracy. I told him, "those in glass houses should not throw stones"...he kept saying back, "What the hell does that mean? You sound like an idiot"

Oh the irony.

we thought this was the case last yr when Elliot was spouting off about the shitty play-calling after they lost to msu. Still,  that statement gives some insight to the degree of their self-entitilement though.  they absolutely deserve a beating. it couldn't happen to a better team/school/fan-base. Hopefully M can deliver on this.

I don't feel the same.  Our season has been perhaps more impressive than theirs thus far.  I think this is a coin flip kind of game.  If we play 10 times, we win five.  I like the senior leadership on our team.  I like that we are going into this game with 12-14 guys that may get drafted in a few months.  Osu has talented players, but not the senior leadership that is headed off into the NFL in April.  I'm hanging my hat on that - Go Blue - Fuck Ohio State.

O'Korn is the wildcard here.

I think he's going to be the QB on Saturday, not Speight.  *sigh*

Here's hoping there actually is an "August O'Korn" that took Speight to the wire on the starting QB race, and that was not just Harbaugh blowing smoke.

We need that guy to show up next week.

Of course OSU plays like shit against MSU which means they'll properly utilize Weber and Samuels this week. our defense is gonna have to play lights out.

Weber is a very green redshirt freshman who shunned Michigan for the bucs. He'll get the wrath. He's had most of his yards because teams spy Barrett. Usually unsuccessfully but not this Saturday my friends! Same thing with Samuels. A product of Barrett's success. Whenever he is lined up outside as a receiver, he has a safety/nickle or linebacker on him right? That's not that impressive considering the teams they've played. He isn't nowhere near a Percy Harvin type. Percy Harvin would run cirlcles around this kid. Urban hypes his current players up so bad that it's getting pathetic. Laughable pretty much. Barrett always jukes inside and plants outside foot. No enforcer in Zeke Elliot. Just a bunch of young little fast guys trying to play big boy football. SHOULD be able to walk all over them on BOTH sides of the ball. Game over. Boom goes the dynamite.

Meyer already said in the MSU post-game that he intends to open up his offense more and get Samuels into the game more and be more aggressive in general.  He admits that he was just trying to survive and advance at MSU in the wind and snow.

You are correct, out defense is going to have to play lights out.  And even if they do, OSU is going to get points.  They are too good not too.  Our offense is going to have to step up and score and keep pace.

We won't survive multiple 3-and-outs in a row like we did against Indiana.

If M can shorten the game by running the ball effectively, and getting the ball to the FB and TE's, that would dissrupt their offenses flow/rhythm. In order to do that, Harbaugh, Drevno and Fisch are going to have to use different motions/shifts and formations in order to screw with their alignment.  I think the lack of motion/shifts in yesterday's game, made it easier for IU to pressure JOK.  Not second guessing this staff for 1 second.  I am sure there was a good reason as to why,  they game-planned that way.  the good news is I think the OL is a better run-blocking unit than it was last yr and I don't think osu's front 7 (although still very good) is quite as good as it was last yr.

We need our running game to be on.  We need some sustained drives, even if we do not score.

We can't turn it over to them time and time again after multiple 3 and outs.  Our D is good, but it's not going to hold up against that.

points yesterday after Magoo & Company confirmed a long incomplete I U  pass setting up a field goal.   OSU won in part by MSU going for 2.   For those that play that game, take the points and Go Blue !  If Speight can play its a rare gift from oddsmakers.   With our excellent defense,  a close, tough game looks likely.

Feels about right based on perception. Wish our Qb situation wasn't in flux. Some bad juju needs to get off our back in this rivalry with our qb's. Going back to the dreadful 2001 start of this nightmare. 2001 starter should have been Henson, but he leaves and we have RS freshman Navarre. 2004 should have been Gutierrez, but freshman Henne has to go to Columbus in his first year. 2007 senior Henne plays with mangled shoulder. 2008 who cares, but Sheridan has to play in Columbus, not that it mattered. 2012 denard plays rb because he has no arm. 2013 Gardner plays on broken foot. 2015 rudock gets knocked out, and 2016 welp....did I forget any?

I'd feel better if we weren't having offensive issues and run defense issues. Such a big game on the road with our level of play the last few weeks? Gonna be tough.

The defense will hang tough. OSU looks susceptible to runs on the outside, so big games from Isaac and McDoom! Peppers finally gets his pick to shut up the suckeyes. And Speight will play and win us the game. So let it be written, so let it be done.
